I've seen all the bury jokes etc., but after reading an article on Bleacher Report and it's responses, I found it ridiculous. The article was about HHH using his power to make Sheamus win the RR, although Jericho was previously supposed to win it. Everyone was like "Im sick of HHH doing this stuff, he screws everyone over..." etc. but don't you guys find that to be completley hypocritical?

Sheamus, 34, has been wrestling for WWE flagships since 2009. He has won two world titles, a US title, and the King of the Ring.

Chirs Jericho, 41, has been wrestling for major wrestling companies since 1996. He has won six world titles, 9 intercontinental titles, 7 tag team titles, two television titles, 4 cruiserweight titles, 1 european title and 1 hardcore title.

Now, I don't know if it's just me, but one of these guys seems to be really well established, thought of as one of the greatest in history, and has done it all in the business, thus not really needing an RR win to change anything. The other, is an up and comer who could benifit from the boost to make him a legit main event character and help him gather a solid storyline in entering WM.

Did Triple H really 'bury' anybody here? Or did he pick the guy who needs the win more? Are people just so blindly hating HHH and following Jericho that they will contradict their own comments just to moan about something?

There's a theory that some of the old timers have about age and drawing power.

Older talent draws better crowds or something, Nash was talking about it in some shoot. I think it's a load of crap he was told by the old timers to keep him in line early in his career.

I would have marked like hell if Jericho had won but i agree with you, he did not need the Royal Rumble win like Sheamus did. I think if Triple H did make this decision then he made the right choice.
Jericho will face CM Punk, who actually cares in any way if theres an RR enterance into the match? It seems just thrown together and the rivalry means nothing...we STILL dont care, it'll be epic regardless.

Sheamus I guess is a solid guy and easy for the fans to get behind him. Maybe if they dropped the demeaning and cheesy irish crap, it might get a bit better, but still. Sheamus will most likley go up against Wade Barrett, and that spells for a good match between British/Irish rivals who fight a similar style and are up and comers in the company. Sure it won't be Punk/Jericho or Cena/Rock, but it's Smackdown, what is anyone expecting? If they can put on a good match which we at least tolerate watching, good job (although a 4 way would definently shake things up, but I dont know how RR winners work, one on one only?)

The rumble is about wrestlemania, and what would happen to Smackdown if it was Jericho Vs CM Punk with the RR being included?

A Royal Rumble winner is guaranteed a title shot at Wrestlemania but it does not have to be a one on one match.

A Jericho/Punk match didn't need the Royal Rumble to add interest in it, it might end up stealing the show at Wrestlemania. Sheamus vs D Bryan will be good as well if that is the match but adding the RR winner angle to the match adds more interest to this match for some people.

Yeah couldn't recall if there was a non singles match for the RR winner.

Jericho/Punk could DEFINENTLY steal the show. It'll really be down to how well Punk and HHH wrestle to decide who wins.

Anyone else notice that WM's best attractions are Jericho, Rock, Taker and HHH? Yeah, way to keep it current WWE :D.

I'd hate if DB still had the title. The crowd don't react to him, his WWE work is overrated, and his heel work falls under annoying instead of good. He's more trying to get people to dislike him instead of being a heel, and it just seems like a shortcut to me. I prefer when a heel is on their own, like The Miz or when Sheamus was a heel, but Bryan has AJ, Dolph has Vickie, Alberto has Ricardo etc. I want a strong heel...like a female...but with testicles...and maybe a penis.

The problem wasn't the winner of the rumble, it was the build-up of the runner up. They shouldn't have put Jericho in a position where coming second would cost him credibility, but they did, so we're pissed at the outcome. Some people can't help but direct that anger at Sheamus, who is basically eating the blame for the poor planning of someone else's storyline.

The problem with the Royal Rumble is that the winner is asked to choose between the WWE title and World Heavyweight title. Everyone knows the WWE title is more prestigious so the Rumble winner should realistically always choose that one.

They where getting ready for something big including Sheamus by some time now, it was pretty obvious, for months he basically destroyed random people on smackdown without even a storyline; now I'm actually hoping for one different from "I won the RR and I'm going to WM", that's ok but please add some story/feud.

This thread made me realize Sheamus won the WWE title more times than Chris Jericho.

I don't believe that report to begin with. If HHH has the power to change the winner of the Rumble you would think Creative would okay the winner with HHH before hand. It just makes no sense.

Of course it makes sense. HHH gets what he wants, he says he wants Sheamus to win instead of Jericho, thats whats gonna happen. Has the past decade taught you nothing?
No, that's not the part that makes no sense. If HHH has that much power then why not let HHH book the Rumble to begin with? Why even book a winner without clearing it with HHH first?

LadyCroft is right, this is an absurd dirt sheet report based on everyone's knowledge of the heat between Triple H and Jericho from a decade ago. Apparently in Dirt Sheet World, no one ever changes, relationships don't progress and Triple H still wants to bury poor Jericho at any given opportunity. Which makes one wonder, why would Jericho return to WWE in the first place? If he's only to be buried by the eeeevil Triple H, who's somewhere backstage twirling his moustache and chortling every night, thinking of ways he can bury Y2J, perhaps he should have not returned at all.

WWE's writing of the Jericho/Punk angle thus far has been weak. Everything else is another matter. It seemed fairly obvious to me that Sheamus was the realistic frontrunner for months on end to win the Royal Rumble. This is the third year in a row where WWE has given Smackdown the "Rumble winner challenges for the championship" angle for The Road to Wrestlemania. On Raw, they actually think up a storyline or at least they did two years ago for Cena/Batista, less so for Cena/Miz and thus far Jericho/Punk has been weaker still.

Also, anyone who believes Vince McMahon does not get final say on who wins the Royal Rumble is so deluded, as to be a lost cause when discussing serious subjects.

Triple H doesn't push new talent = ebil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
