I've been wondering about the build to Lesnar/Rollins and I really don't want any overbooked story/bad blood that will most likely suck. Just give me Seth Rollins training montages, where he does everything to surpass his limits to get ready for The Beast lol. Like HBK/Bret preparing for their Ironman match or Rocky training in Russia. Obviously you don't show Lesnar doing all this shit lol. But it's better than having Heyman/Seth cut the same promo every week.
Would love them to do a Rollins RTWM diary series.

Good start. Realizing that everyone likes to compare Seth to Shawn Michaels (even Seth himself), this could very much be Seth's Mindgames 96, which is of course one of Mick and Michaels' finest matches. We haven't really seen an overly physical and aggressive Seth in WWE from what I recall, given he is always putting his renowned ring condition on display through his athleticism showcases. Much like Michaels with Mankind, Perfect time/place/opponent to tell a different story.

Regarding the build, as a writer (not wrestling of course :maury) I always appreciate an intricate story, but I think less is more here. We already have the backstory of these two having unfinished business from WM 31/their interrupted 1 on 1, Rollins "winning one for Roman" etc. Tonight's already set Tortoise and the Hare elements in motion. I saw several people call for more animosity, I just don't think it's needed here. Story is self-explanatory.

I like that idea. Because if they go for any kind of story, it'll probably just lead back to Roman and involving him somehow. And God bless Roman, and I'm not saying he shouldn't be mentioned at all, but you lose yourself going too far in that direction. Ask Dean Ambrose about that.

Just make this is as simple as possible.

Meh, don't really care about stuff like that anymore. It's boring.

So, where do you guys see Seth entering the Rumble today? I could see the case for him entering 1 or 2, but I have a feeling he enters around 9 or 10 for some reason.

Needless to say, I'm pumped for tonight. IT'S THE ROYAL RUMBLE.

:mark: :mark:
Dude, you FUCKING called it :sodone

I predicted that Seth Rollins was going to enter at #8 to begin with, but I was only 2 spots off :lol

I think he'll enter #1 or #2 and go all the way to win it. He'll serve as the iron man for it.

With Balor, Styles and Bryan already in matches I think they'll need Rollins in the iron man spot. Wether Ambrose is out early as well, we will see.

Not sure when he'll enter but I think they'll give Mustafa Ali a good iron man run as well.
You were fucking right about Seth Rollins and Mustafa Ali being the top 2 ironmen :sodone

You were also right about Dean Ambrose being eliminated earlier to a lesser extent :nice
Edit:

I'll post more of my thoughts about Rollins later when I'm caught up with the rest of this fan thread.

Anyone else fuming from Dean, Joe, Nakamura and Ali's eliminations?
I didn't really mind any of their eliminations besides Mustafa Ali because Nia Jax had NO business eliminating him considering how he lasted an impressive 30 minutes.

Dean Ambrose lasted 12 minutes, which is fairly reasonable; but it still could've been way worse. Ambrose was in there for a decent period of time. Plus, Dean Ambrose got to compete in the same ring as Seth Rollins, Johnny Gargano, Samoa Joe, Kofi Kingston, Mustafa Ali, Drew McIntyre, Pete Dunne, Andrade, and Aleister Black. ALL of those names I mentioned are pretty solid wrestlers, so it was cool seeing Ambrose compete with those names with the full time he had. He at least got 1 elimination on Johnny Gargano.

Samoa Joe lasted 23 minutes, which is an impressive showing. He got to compete with most of those names I mentioned, and getting eliminated by Mustafa Ali was a good way to put him over in their mini-feud together. Samoa Joe also got 3 eliminations on Big E, Curt Hawkins, and No Way Jose; so at least he looked kinda dominant last night.

Shinsuke Nakamura lasted 17 minutes, which is a fairly impressive showing. He did pull double duty tonight since he beat Rusev for the United States title earlier on in the pre-show. Nakamura could've easily lasted a few minutes, but he didn't. He got a reasonable amount of TV time in the rumble. Plus, getting eliminated by Mustafa Ali was a good way to put him over. Hell, it would be a cool way of inserting Ali into the US title scene as a contender for Nakamura's belt. Shinsuke Nakamura also got 1 elimination over Kurt Angle, who is also a legendary Hall of Famer.

Basically, the only problem I had with any of those guys you mentioned was how Nia Jax eliminated Mustafa Ali; but they kinda made up for that by having Dolph Ziggler Superkick her, Rey Mysterio 619 her, and Randy Orton RKO her. They at least had the decency to have Ali last a half-hour too.

You're right about the wrestling though. The in-ring action throughout the rumble match was fucking enjoyable for the most part. Seriously, the number of great wrestlers in this rumble match is INSANE!! There were at least 3-5 pretty good wrestlers who shared the ring at the same time throughout most of this rumble. The booking/structure of the rumble match may have been awkward at times, but the action mostly made up for that.

I strongly recommend giving this men's rumble match a rewatch whenever you feel like it to see what I mean. It's better when you don't expect to see over-the-top surprise entrants, and just focus on the full-time current talents in this rumble match :)

This is too precious!

Also Seth rocking a fanny pack :lol
Seth Rollins and Sasha Banks making Ryan's day :banderas

Seth Rollins looked SO emotional when he cut his promo in the opening segment. You can tell that rumble win meant a lot to Rollins. Hell, even Triple H got emotional tonight because he's that proud of him :proud

Seth Rollins went on to have a decent match with Dean Ambrose, AND he stood up to Brock Lesnar in the closing segment :mark:

Rollins getting "take his belt" chants and "slay the beast" chants last night :banderas

Not be a selfish mark or anything, but I'm kind of worried that the news of Ambrose leaving might fuck up Rollins RTWM. This is obviously gonna go viral and everybody is gonna know about Dean leaving by the time next weeks Raw hits. I'm legitimately worried about the crowds hijacking Seth's segments.

I'm probably worried for nothing, but still...

I would hope not and im not too concerned. The fans love Seth. I dont think that they are blaming him for Dean's booking. If anyone's segments get hijacked bc of Dean anger, itll probably be the McMahons/HHH

I don't see how anyone would blame Seth for Dean wanting to leave. That falls directly on Vince and creative.

The Seth/Brock Youtube video is already sitting at 1.3 million views and it's not even 1PM the following day after Raw yet.

:trips8

Still marking like crazy over the love Seth got from the crowd last night. That "Take his belt" chant directed to Brock.

Not to mention the 'slay the best' and 'you deserve it' chants. Everything is coming up roses.

Seth man you gotta save Mania for me :( I might not get Dean at Mania cos of him leaving so you’re my only hope!!!

I also don’t think the situation with Dean will affect Seth in any way. I feel bad for him though, he’ll have lost two of his closest friends in WWE in only a few months :(

Oh, for sure, and I'm obviously not implying anything like that.

But fans did kinda go crazy with the Punk chants when he walked, and fans did hijack segments across the board. With the connection between Dean and Seth, I do worry.

I'm probably just being a pessimist though. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, you know?

On that note, I think it would be really cool if at WrestleMania Seth beats Brock and Dean and Roman come out to celebrate with him....maybe even give Brock a Triple Powerbomb if Roman is up to it. I'm not the biggest Shield mark after the last couple of failed reunions, but with Roman's situation and Dean leaving, it would be a really nice "last hurrah" for them imho.

If they did something like that, I would be ugly crying right there in the third row.

It's so weird to think that Seth will be the last remaining Shield member in WWE, at the moment anyway. Thank GOD he's getting a proper push and will hopefully win the title cos I'm low on enthusiasm right now after knowing I'll have lost two of my favourite wrestlers in only a few months. Seth <3

Dean will turn up somewhere else. I guarantee it. And he may very well come back to WWE some day. If there's one thing I'll give Vince and co credit for, it's never closing a door completely, and seeing as how Ambrose is willing to ride out his contract, that at least tells me that they're parting somewhat amicably. And Roman will be back. That's a guarantee as well.

A top over babyface: :banderas

Literally never heard a 'take his belt' chant directed at anyone in wrestling before. These new chants coming in for Seth :banderas

This is fucking awesome. Those are the reactions a top babyface should get.

:banderas

Not sure what Dean's situation is entirely now that everyone knows he's leaving. But if Monday was his last appearance on WWE TV, it is befitting that his last match was against Seth.
That thought occurred to me too. I'm happy if it was his last match, that it was against Seth, his wrestling soulmate.

I hope they book Seth's buildup to Mania similar to Dean's in 2016 but with a much different outcome at Mania itself, lol.

Pic of Seth's new coffee shop:

Looks really nice. Between his WWE salary, merch sales (one of their best merch sellers, and it'll probably increase drastically this year), owning his wrestling school, his girlfriend's botique he opened for her, the Black and Brave merch which he doesn't have to share with WWE, and now a new coffee shop; dude must be making bank. Seems really, really smart with his money.

Damn I always thought The Shield would be around forever. Now Reigns is battling a serious disease and Dean will be gone soon which leaves just Rollins. :(

Btw for those of us who've stuck by the Seth train since The Shield threads in 2012, this is so cathartic. I'm still so over the moon, More than 6 years later, he's getting a Mania main event- I don't even care if it doesn't go last coz Becky/Ronda deserve it too and we have that amazing WM 31 ending that will stay with us forever. Still, this is the first time he'll be advertised and billed in the Main Event which feels so great.
