The Trout watched a lot of Hardcore TV a few months ago and The Eliminators had a great feud with The Gangstas. They were arguably the best resident ECW tag team in 96, at least until Sabu and RVD began their run.
On a side note, this has left The Trout puzzled. Ever since Wyatt passed away, The Trout has found himself unable to watch WWE programming. Since he clearly isn't the target audience of AEW either, he's found himself looking at smaller promotions (Impact, MLW and NWA) and he can't quite figure out why all these promotions can't really compare with ECW, despite (sometimes) superior means. It shows that booking isn't as easy as it looks.
Saturn, for instance, was a sound technician but he lacked charisma and wasn't a great promo. Nobody would take Kronus seriously when he talked and he wasn't even that good in the ring but they found a way around it. Their 'pulp fiction' promo format certainly helped a lot of their weaker guys on the mic. You have to be creative to hide your workers' weaknesses and that's something many bookers are too lazy to do. Most of them do try to get the best out of their guys but they won't go out of their way to make them look better than they are.
For instace, The Trout remembers a segment where The Eliminators ambushed The Gangstas during a workout session. You actually don't see anything. The camera's on Joey Styles all the time, you just hear the screams and after a couple of minutes, you see Saturn and Kronus walking out, covered in blood. The rest is left to your imagination and nothing beats your own imagination.
That's The Trout's honest-speaking, good-old-times-remembering, rambling, underwater-breathing, fly-eating, electrifying take on it, anyway.
