Who remembers this tag team? I thought they were great in ECW and had that great “Total Elimination” finisher, I always wondered why these guys never made it as a tag team in at least WCW but it probably had to do with Kronus drug use but at least Saturn had a run, R.I.P. Kronus

The Trout watched a lot of Hardcore TV a few months ago and The Eliminators had a great feud with The Gangstas. They were arguably the best resident ECW tag team in 96, at least until Sabu and RVD began their run.

On a side note, this has left The Trout puzzled. Ever since Wyatt passed away, The Trout has found himself unable to watch WWE programming. Since he clearly isn't the target audience of AEW either, he's found himself looking at smaller promotions (Impact, MLW and NWA) and he can't quite figure out why all these promotions can't really compare with ECW, despite (sometimes) superior means. It shows that booking isn't as easy as it looks.

Saturn, for instance, was a sound technician but he lacked charisma and wasn't a great promo. Nobody would take Kronus seriously when he talked and he wasn't even that good in the ring but they found a way around it. Their 'pulp fiction' promo format certainly helped a lot of their weaker guys on the mic. You have to be creative to hide your workers' weaknesses and that's something many bookers are too lazy to do. Most of them do try to get the best out of their guys but they won't go out of their way to make them look better than they are.

For instace, The Trout remembers a segment where The Eliminators ambushed The Gangstas during a workout session. You actually don't see anything. The camera's on Joey Styles all the time, you just hear the screams and after a couple of minutes, you see Saturn and Kronus walking out, covered in blood. The rest is left to your imagination and nothing beats your own imagination.

That's The Trout's honest-speaking, good-old-times-remembering, rambling, underwater-breathing, fly-eating, electrifying take on it, anyway.

I loved that era of ECW, where the Dudley's, Gangstas, and Eliminators were all fighting over the belts. Lots of great matches, fun television.

Their finisher helped get them over from what I remember. "Total Elimination", looked great when it worked....looked like crap when they mistimed it. Joey Styles yelling over the move "Total Elimination""!!!.

I thought they were very good at the time, but I thought Saturn was the stand out. Kronus just annoyed me. Their finisher was fucking outstanding though, talk about a fucking KO.

I hated their match against the Dudleys at BL though. This place would have a fucking field day with it nowadays because the amount of nonsensical flippy garbage during the match would make even Ricochet shake his head in disbelief.

Kronus was a big guy with good athleticism but beyond that I never saw much in him. He was never going to make it in WWF or WCW, and even in ECW he got put out to pasture quickly after Saturn left. Saturn on the other hand should have had a better career. Despite only being 5'8 or so, he had quite a presence. Very distinguishable look, menacing, dangerous looking and a great physique with a ton of muscle mass on his frame. Didn't look like a guy you'd want to meet in a dark ally. Was also a solid worker. He came across as very believable, much like Chris Benoit. Wasn't the greatest talker and was a bit short but everything else was solid

I only saw what Perry Saturn did in WWE. Honestly nothing was really memorable about his run there because he was oushined by everyone in the Outlaws. The only thing he did that was memorable was his goofy moppy gimmick and whenever The Rock made fun of him.

Don't know to much about his WCW and ECW runs. I'm planning on watching all the nitros eventually, and I'm still at the beginning of 97. It'll be interesting to see his run in WCW. I was surprised to see how decent of a talker Benoit seemed to be in WCW as opposed to WWE.

Saturn got his start in ECW, but his WCW run is vastly underrated. He was in his element as WCW was the more ‘workrate’ company at the time, and he had some excellent matches with Raven, Benoit, Kanyon etc. His character was a lot more legit. Well, it was a bit until the Jericho feud, but his work in The Flock (and post-Flock) was ace. By the time he joined WWE, he was still good but wasn’t charismatic enough to get ahead where WWE focused more on mic work, characters and storytelling.
