Hey guys, I wanted to know everybody's thoughts on the Death Riders in AEW. I wanted to know everybody's feedback in regards to how it all started, the full development and how it's been all playing out with Jon Moxley as the frontrunner.

I loved the idea of them in the beginning, and the way they set it all up at Wrestledream last year, but they did not have the means to follow up on that because none of the 'young' talent they ran against them was remotely credible. So, it was bad. Whether for exposing how much these babyfaces were not good, exposing themselves for not having any of these guys remotely ready for this program, or just because it was boring when you knew none of them had any shot.

Then when they got into the new year they basically abandoned all of that and just became a generic heel group, and as that, they were fine. Where they had totally failed to make worthy contenders at the end of 2024, they absolutely did with Copeland and Swerve. People here were biting, people on wrestling twitter absolutely bought the Swerve one, big time. Then the build to All In and the title change was done brilliantly well. I think the title in the case gimmick was great. Moxley, through much of this period, got away from his fondness for garbage wrestling, which is always a positive too. They made good use of Marina for the first time in her career, they even made good use of Yuta with his being the brainless drone that everyone knows Moxley gives no shits about, but he can't break free regardless.

Now, post-title, they seem to have gone back to where they were in 2024, claiming to want the best for the future of the company, and divorced from the world title and needing to be company carrying programs, that's fine. Could become more than fine if they actually have some meaningful payoffs to it that result in the downfall of the fucking group.

So... I'm up and down on them :ROFLMAO: Have gotten better as they have gone along, and very glad that Shane fucking McMahon was never involved.

The Mighty Joe Young of pro wrestling.

I'm early film days there was a movie about a giant gorilla, Mighty Joe Young. But, they used claymation to animate the character. Throughout the film the gorilla changes size and ability, strength, erroneously and it's inconsistent. The directors didn't appear to care and just made him whatever size they wanted him in every scene.

Death Riders are incredibly menacing at times to a complete joke other times. Just one of them can best up hangman one week, then hangman can take them all out the next. It's clear the "director", TK, doesn't care about consistency and just plugs then in whenever he needs an excuse to end a segment.

For the laziness of their use, I don't like them. I like all the wrestlers themselves though.

The group flopped. It was obvious early on they had some kind of big storyline/angle for the group that probably got dropped after Shane and TK couldn’t make a deal. Then it just became another generic heel group that feuded with faces and somehow became friends with the Young Bucks out of nowhere.

No one other than Moxley benefited long term from all of this. Wheeler Yuta is still a complete dweeb, Shafir will flop without being in a faction, and Claudio is just a generic mid card heel for all the main eventers to beat. It doesn’t matter with PAC because he will have Visa issues again within 3 months. 😂

At this point, the Don Callis Family has surpassed them in relevance anyways.

It's okay, as long as they take a break from the main event for a while.

What saves it for me are Moxley and Shafir's performances. They look like they just stepped out of prison. They're one of the more believable pairings in recent memory. Yuta and Claudio have been doing absolutely nothing for me, and Garcia is just "there". I love PAC. Hopefully he adds an interesting layer to this faction in the coming months.

I've always liked Claudio and Moxley is good. But for the millionth time, get Wheeler Useless off my TV.

Is Jon Moxley top guy material as world champ?

The reason why I wanted to ask this question is because I remember when Death Riders were first created and Moxley became champion and some AEW fans were acting like that was the worse thing Tony Khan could do is try to make Jon Moxley a top guy of a company.

Marina Shafir does excellent work for sure.

Moxley was a better top face champion. The Death Riders stuff was watching the turd do rotations in the toilet bowl but never flushing.

Plus he took Tony Schiavone’s company away from him and that’s kinda fucking rude.

I might be completely wrong here as i only watch the ppvs really.

I liked the concept but I think it was poorly done.

The idea of Mox wanting to protect the company and the belt from those he saw unworthy is a good concept But when you need to cheat to hold onto the belt it losses its meaning.

Mox losing to Hangman should have the end off the story it should have ended with a handshake right there, or at least loss to Darby and do a handshake there.

Like i do the bloodline. Occasional good moments, then periods of apathy then hatred.

Individually:

Marina: Like Trump, I have a thing for eastern european chicks. Shes atleast a believable badass with the MMA experience but then she wrestles and i lose all interest.

Gabe Kidd: legit tough dude and wrestles a realistic style thats vastly missing in AEW. Theres nothing cooperative in his work. He isnt trying to have the best match ever he is trying to put down his opponent. In that sense he lives the Death Rider concept more than anyone.

Garcia: Given all his gone through from breaking his leg like Sid and hogan and overcoming it, I should care about him but I dont. The only time ive cared is his program with max and that was more like a flash of fire or dry lightning.

Yuta: in kayfabe and a wrestling sense, total fucking Xpac heat, I want him dead. I want him released. Im at the stage of getting done with wrestling after 20 years while maybe checking it out periodically but if this cunt ever becomes world champion ill never watch any wrestling again. Ill accept Cassidy before him, atleast children, the mentally feeble and dorky chicks like him. If anyone legitimately likes Yuta i know they are a legitimate threat to society.

Claudio: I like Claudio. With his strength you can buy him as a tough dude. Has believable offense. He is like Arn or CW anderson. Completely inoffensive.

Pac: See Claudio. Minus the hesitation on his high flying. That offends me..

Moxley: Death match jon i loathe. Actual wrestling Jon? One of the best on the roster. But he is also so fucking stale.

To me, they are the main culprits in bringing down the quality of the shows over the past year. They should be completely disbanded by now, nearly 3 months after Moxley lost the World Title. They serve no purpose and are a drain on the show (booking-wise and ratings wise). Adding Garcia to the group does them no favors, either.

The fact that they're still running around all over the show in late September is CRAZY. Almost anything else would be better. Other than that, the rest of the show isn't terrible, but the Death Riders stuff is.

It should've ended by now. Three months past Mox losing the Title, an they are still adding new members who are complete jokes:
