Now I know they don't let guys keep their indy names but really? You take an epic name like Shaun Ricker and turn it into Slate Randall? Who are the fucking idiots coming up with these awful names?

but you felt Shaun Ricker was an epic name?
Yes sir. It's a big time sounding name that I can foresee Headlining WrestleMania's. It sounds like Money.

Apparently WWE have this stupid rule where none of their wrestlers are allowed to share a first name which is probably the main reason why many of these new ring names are so bad. It was never a problem in the past when they had guys like JBL and John Cena or Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho on the same roster so I don't know why it matters now.
I think its the WWE not wanting to deal with indy wrestlers not wanting to give full rights to their names, so they just give them new names.

Slade would have been a much better name, in that it's at least a real first name. Slade Riddell would have been a small tweak, but so much better.

Regardless, Shaun is so damn good on the mic - he'll get over if given the opportunity (though needs to drop the "You've been slated" attempt at a catchphrase.

It seems to me the main reason they went for "Slate" was so he could use that catchphrase. Personally, I think Slade is a much better option. As for the surname, the choices are endless. Richards, Ramsey, Roberts, Russell...Randall is just too close to Randy.

In the end, what's in a name? If he was destined for greatness, he will do just fine. Case in point: Dolph Ziggler. If he's as good as he is projected to be, we will all get used to it.

What's going on with this guy? Haven't heard anything about him lately...

Randall Slate is even better then Slate Randall.

They could of switched around his first and last name and went with something like Rick Saunders.

All of what I mentioned as pretty boring but I literally just came up with them in 30 seconds. Imagine if the WWE thought about it for 5 minutes.

Does anyone know what's going on with him or have an update? Haven't heard anything about him in a long time.

I dont know what is up with these wack ass names lately. Slate Randall? I get it. They want original names but even I can come up with a better name in a couple of seconds. Bruce levi, Paul Dayton, Carl Carston etc etc. I mean those arent good names but they sure as hell beat Slate Randall and I came up with all of those in under a minute. Its almost as if theyre trying to come up with the worst names instead of the best ones.

They come up with the names themselves so if they suck they're the ones who have to live with them.
