"Shelton Benjamin recently appeared on The Ross Report podcast and discussed his injury.

Benjamin noted that his planned return to WWE has been put on hold due to a full tear of his rotator cuff. The injury occurred while he was in Japan and he has been wrestling with the injury for over 2 months.

He said he received a cortisone shot after his injury and his shoulder began to feel better each day thereafter. He noted that any soreness he felt was put down to general wear and tear of a wrestler on the road.

It was a WWE physician who informed him of the severity of his shoulder injury and told him that he would definitely require surgery. He was told the recovery time for the injury is 6 months. He says WWE will certainly be on his radar once again after his recovery concludes."

Shelton "The Gawd" Benjamin just had to hurt himself when his return was more anticipated than the last few years of his unfortunately misused career. :mj2




For further clarification.

Hopefully he'll return when American Alpha are more tenured and it won't be a rushed situation.

Sucks, but its not that big of a loss while he's first couple matches will get a few nostalgia pops he'll fizzle out almost immediately once everyone realizes he's no longer the wrestler he was. Fingers crossed this means that someone from NXT will take his spot on Smackdown.

Damn, that's sad to hear. Despite his age i was looking forward to his return. Hopefully he's not suffering from that injury for too long.

Damn, that's rubbish. I was looking forward to seeing him again and seeing what he could do on his return. I'm not sure about the time out he'll need to heal that injury so I can only hope that he's able to come back when he's better. They really needed a few extra on Smackdown too.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

But, this is not a huge loss and at least he hasn't debuted yet. The WWE should quickly find another vet though to help beef up SDL's mid card.

That sucks. I thought something might have been up after they didn’t show another vignette on Smackdown but I didn’t think about it at the time.

Unfortunately in this business, injuries can really hurt your career. Bray Wyatt was supposed to be a big babyface before he got hut and now he’s back as a heel. Hopefully when he’s full healed there is still a spot on the roster for him.

:damn that injury bug hitting hard, putting guys out before they even return :lol

Seriously though, pretty dissapointing was looking forward to his return. Hope everything goes well and he has a quick recovery.
