Meltzer kind of ruins this buisiness with his bullshit being spread around in the dirtsheets, Seth is calling him out on it not because he gives a shit what Meltzer thinks but like everyone else is fed up with Meltzer's bullshit and how its ruining the wrestling products.

All wrestling dirtsheet, rumor mills, gossip are trash. It a 100% troll/spoiler business. Then people wonder why the ratings are down in wrestling. No mystery, no surprises, no in the moment enjoyment.

Think about it. Guys like meltzer, fighful, and all the others aren't journalists. They are Perez Hilton wannabes. If they could they would draw genitalia and body fluids on wrestling photos if twitter would allow it.

Anybody ever read a novel? Or sit down and watch a mystery film? Now imagine these guys yelling at you telling the last pages of the book or who the murderer is. That's the IWC in a nutshell. A race to be first to ruin everything. Should be banned from this site PERMANENTLY.

Just imagine Cody Rhodes entrance at WM with nobody knowing anything. Closest we ever got to that in the "twitter/gossip/dirtsheet age" was the Hardy Boyz at WM 38 or AJ Styles at Royal Rumble 2016.

I don't know why people take this stuff so seriously. Those star ratings are... Opinions. That other people pay them so much mind is on them, not him. As much as anything else they are promotion. They're like the Oscars. 9 times out of 10 the Oscar isn't going to the best stuff of the year, just the stuff the industry decides it wants to promote, and his ratings are the same, and they have successfully promoted and helped up interest in shit for decades.

The most 'harm' they, and the attention given to them, has done is to wrestlers who want to fingerpoke of doom their way through matches. Imagine a viewer or a paying customer getting mad at the promotion of folks that put more effort into entertaining the crowd?

As for Seth Rollins, given he knows exactly how many stars they're currently up to and that he's Seth fucking Rollins, an absolute one hundred percent, ROH born and bred workrate guy, I'd say he cares plenty. Not about Meltzer's star ratings necessarily, but about the 'quality' of his match.

Gossip about what may or may not happen is a very small part of what Dave Meltzer and Wade Keller and I'm sure others of their sort do. That it's the part most focused on by people on forums like this, and on twitter, is because... That's what is of most interest to them.

Also, people report on pre-production and the production process of movies all the time. This guy has joined the cast, that guy has joined the cast, this guy is going to compose the score, that guy is going to edit it, HERE' A SET PICTURE, etc.Throw in the newfound fascination with dorks trying to guess how the latest blockbuster is going to pan out from the moment the trailer drops and you can't say there isn't a market there for them to cater to. I agree that it sucks, but if that's what floats peoples boats (and clearly, sadly it is) why would they not play to it?

Meltzer's star ratings had credibility years ago. For example I wanted to watch old Steiner Brothers matches on Peacock. I went and looked up Meltzer's ratings for their matches in NWA/WCW. His numbers are very accurate and unbiased.

But now his numbers are simply unrealistic. Seth's comments reflect that opinion. Prior to 2017, Meltzer only rated two matches above 5+; since 2017 he's rated 35 matches above 5+. Do we really think the in-ring work is so much better to justify those numbers?

Actually it what ruins forums like these. I rather have open discussion & ideas. Instead it's every 2 seconds reading who is joining Edge and his crew. Why even show up on TV and have matches. It ruins the story.

Meltzer is the Roger Ebert of wrestling match reviewers. Much like Ebert could give a movie a poor rating that still did huge box office numbers, Meltzer can too.

Meltzer is a wrestling historian so his opinion does carry some weight given all the matches he’s seen in the past and can compare it too
