There were two massive botches literally back to back but in the same breath I both gotta praise and condemn Nia Jax cause...

Nia actually saved the Stephanie Vaquer vs Tiffany Stratton match.

Nia had the wherewithal to know Tiffany wasn't gonna make it in time to break up the count which would result in Jade winning the title and it being Stephanie vs Jade at Crown Jewel.

But then just a couple seconds later another massive botch happens as the ref just stopped counting the pin.

I dont know whos at fault here Nia or the ref but Tiffany is the planned winner anyway the ref should have just rolled with it.

As for that injury.

Do yall remember during the Thuderdom/Pandemic era Nia threw Kairi Sane into the steel steps resulting in a huge gash on her head.

Well injury Jax has struck again with this very same move as Cargill sustained a huge gash on her eyebrow resulting in blood pouring out.

Big difference is with Kairi's WWE edited it out and without Kairi Sane posting the head wound on her social media we would be none the wiser.

Here its live with an audience so WWE couldn't hide this one.

I know it’s cool to hate Nia and all but I’m wondering if Jade was supposed to pull the ref or Tiffany was a bit late… It just seemed like everyone was waiting for something and it didn’t happen and then Nia says something to the ref like “what are you doing”. I’m not saying it isn’t possible that Nia just plain fucked up but I don’t know, it seems like Nia might be questioning what happened like they were expecting something other than “oops, I forgot”.

For the gash, that is def on Nia, she had the back of Jade’s head and pushed pretty hard which also seemed to cause Jade to stumble a bit. There was no need to use that much force.

Anyway, I honestly think the biggest blame for the pin count botch is the ref, unless someone was in her ear telling her “don’t count to three yet” (which I’d be surprised if that were the case cuz that’s just dumb). I wouldn’t put that on Nia. The ref should have kept counting if they knew Tiffany was winning, unless it was supposed to be Jade and it suddenly changed because of her injury so maybe originally Tiffany wasn’t supposed to get the pin but it was called to do it after the botch and that’s why the match continued….I’m just trying to make sense of why the fuck they’d continue if Tiffany was winning anyway, I doubt anyone would be in trouble at the level they probably are now for fucking that up so badly if a three count was made at that very moment. Refs are supposed to know what to do, shit happens, people miss their cue, whatever the case, this was an easy “just count to three anyway” moment that they made the biggest botch of the year…..just to get the result they would have gotten anyway…again, unless someone else was supposed to win.

If you look when the ref counted 2, she moved her leg and it looked like it would if someone pulled it. Like she was expecting Jade to pull her leg to stop the count. But Jade had rolled completely out of the ring instead. And when she was pinning Nia, when she pulled Nia's legs up, it looked like her foot might have hit the injury, further irritating it, and that's might be why she rolled out of the ring afterward.

And I'm not entirely sure that Tiffy was supposed to win that match. Because, like we said, if she was supposed to win, why not count 3 and end the match there? Instead of going just another minute for Tiffy to hit her moonsault? It really makes no sense unless Jade was supposed to win but they had to call an audible and change the outcome because of the injury.

If watch how Nia throws her into the steps she had no chances to get her hands up.

This how I break down the botches in this match.

Step Spot - Nia - she was careless and held onto Jades neck too long and virtually spiked her on the steps.

Nia kick out spot - Stratton - She missed her interrupt spot (Nia actually saved the spot here by kicking out)

Final Pin - The Ref - We can only speculate at what was supposed to happen but something was missed. The botch is 100% on the ref, if Stratton was supposed to win anyway just count the 3 and deal with the missed spot after the match backstage. The ref made this spot look like a botch and caused way more problems with the finish than the supposed missing spot did.

Jesus. Props to Jade. That's shoot fighting spirit, not that kayfabe underdog shit. Nia has been pretty safe for a while, but...0 days since last accident. As for that botch...that was terrible. Overall, I'm starting to think that management needs to police up the women's division a little. This stuff is happening too often.

Ref messed up, Tiffany was late on save.

The injury. Jade went into the steps hard. It happens unfortunately. Whether or not Nia had something to do with it. 🤷‍♂️ Be something else if Jade wasn't moving, but she was spearing/running herself into the steps. We've seen wrestlers go into objects, ring posts, steps, etc... and attempt to get as close as possible to look "real", and wind up injuring/cutting themselves.

Tiffany was obviously late on the break up, I have to say I'm a bit surprised that doesn't happen more often considering how much that spot happens. I just don't get why the referee didn't count 3 on Tiffany's pin though....it was seemingly the "normal" finish of the match anyway so that was just a total brain fart. And of course again it brings up the debate of whether or not the referee should just ALWAYS count as if it's real and at this point really, why not. What really would've been hurt by Jade winning the belt in that situation, or other situations where the same screw up would occur. So they just have another match the next week or whatever and have Tiffany win it back, if that's what the really want. Or Jade gets a surprise belt run for a month or two. They've gone to such lengths to tell the fans that it's all fake/scripted/whatever anyway, so what does it even matter if there's some title change that goes against the booking. No one cares anymore. Could even be a positive, rather than everyone just looking completely stupid in the scenario that happened.

As for Jade getting busted open, I mean it is what it is. Not really a shock when you've got 2 people involved who both are nowhere near great, or even good wrestlers. Nia can't do much without someone else's help and Jade, well we all know what she is right now. I can't sit here and be surprised at all that in a situation like that, something bad happened.

So looks they've running this very match at house shows with the very same finish. The finish is always the same. So with the tv match it should have went down the same way but Tiffany missing her spot messed up everything...

But you know what. Im gonna put most of the blame back on the ref. Cause if you really look the ref is already counting the pin before Jade hooks Nia's legs to start counting. So to me the ref counted Jade's pin to Nia a little early.

Jade liked this tweet which is pretty much putting the blame mostly on Tiffany

Just because she put a little heart next to what was said there doesn’t mean she’s “blaming” Tiffany.

Everybody's favorite wrestling insider and expert........................

"According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), the original plan was for Stratton to break up Cargill’s pin on Jax. However, a purported delay caused Jax to kick out, leading to the awkward spot witnessed by fans in the arena and at home. "

Why does everyone focus on this part? Tiffany misses her spot yes by a second Nia kicks out (right thing to do in circumstances in my opinion) but no one would have mentioned this spot if the ref just counted the 3 for Tiffanys pin.

The botch on match ending was all on the ref, I'm no fan of either Nia or Tiffany here but Tiff went for the pin as scripted and Nia lay down for 3 as scripted had the ref counted the 3 as scripted (we know this was the plan as they've been running this finish on house shows) I don't think many people would have bat an eye at it.

This botch was all on the ref not on Tiffany missing a pin break up that Jax actually saved by having the awareness to kick out because she knew Tiff was late.
