Within 3 months cody title run will get stale and the crowd will turn on him

The Rock vs Roman Reigns is fine but by doing this they've shown that they don't care about consistency with their weekly shows and stories and are willing to throw that aside for the instant gratification of a dream match.

If Rhodes vs Reigns having a rematch wasn't what they were building to for the last year, then by all means go with Rock vs Reigns.

Rock vs Reigns does nothing for WWE long term though, once WrestleMania is over you're left right back at square one. It doesn't impact the business positively.

Exactly. Fans are pissed because WWE essentially told them they wasted their time for the last year plus on this Cody storyline. They held off on crowning him last year and have been in a holding pattern for a year until it could come back around to Mania to get to the conclusion. Now they're totally scrapping that idea and even managed to make Cody look like a dweeb in the process.

It would be like if Margot Robbie decided she wanted to be in the last season of Stranger Things. And the creators just pushed Eleven and the others aside so Margot's new character could have the big showdown with Vecna. That would be telling the audience that "we know you have a strong attachment to these characters for the last 5 seasons, but this is Margot fucking Robbie we're talking about here, just think of our ratings!"

Konan and Disco make more sense than all these internet dweebs.

The time to pull the trigger is now. WrestleMania 40 is a big marquee number that needs star power and a special attraction. All this talk of “long term” plans is idiotic. Roman getting the win from The Rock elevates him and elevates the person who ends up beating Roman for the titles.

So just because its a round number they're gonna bury one of their top guys and rush a Rock vs Roman match?

This match doesn't need a title on the line, and if we're looking at it in terms of business it would have worked much better when their Netflix deal kicks in next year for international markets -- that's going to be their partner going forward and with Netflix's global reach they'd be smart to put a match on with a global superstar to bring in new eyeballs.

Roman getting the rub from a 50 year old Rock doesn't elevate him.. the dude doesn't need to be elevated any more than he already has been, but Cody does need this win to cement him as the new top guy going forward if Roman is going to remain a part time attraction.

Buddy ain't no way anyone is gonna stick around for another 365 days of Roman keeping the title besides dudes who have a weird ass fetish seeing fellow fans suffer.

You depleted the entire the mens locker, stopped every single future stars' push, stopped your #1 star's momentum towards his first title AND shitted all over the other world title just to get a stiffy over a 52-year old dude getting gassed in 9 minutes.

The other world title does suck lol also whose a star LA knight comes to mind other then him everyone that’s a big star has been around for years, Drew,Orton,Cody,Punk, Rollins heck I don’t care what any of the non Roman fans think he’s your biggest star and the fact he isn’t around much says something about your lack of star power

Honestly, this "but but, Rock is the bigger star. so it makes sense" ... I don't give a crap if he is more known around the world ... he is mostly known for making crap movies, have you seen Jumanji?? ... Goodness me ...

By their logic, the WWE should pay Di Caprio and Brad Pitt a few million each to main event Wrestlemania, because it will probably get millions of views, right?... Honestly, it makes a mockery of the entire industry.

Imagine being the kind of wrestling 'fan' that sits around all year complaining about modern talent just to cream your nappies cuz dah pebble showed up. Listen

Watch your old wrestling and stop telling people what to like.
I enjoy the rock I really do but anyone who is a WWE viewer doesn't even know the rock was a wrestler and if they do they never watched him wrestle live. (Last half of the sentence is very important, just for you who can't read with at least half a comprehension
This would be like Ultimate warrior coming into wrestlemania to fight Shawn instead of Austin because Austin is a little warrior at Hart.
Its embarrassing and beyond stupid.
Let Billy Graham headline Wrestlemania 3

Another retarded thread.

Okay let’s say Cody starts to lose steam 3 months after winning the title (which he wouldn’t), what happens 3 months after Rock vs Roman? Dwayne won’t even bother to be there on the RAW after Mania and Roman will continue to work once every 3 months, so your argument is null and void by default. WWE sacrificed the long term for a short term orgasm.

I'm a Cody fan and that's a weird thing for me to say because I barely watch wrestling now and haven't really been a fan of an actual wrestler for a long, long time. I was pulling for Cody because his story is actually well written, he works exceptionally well as a face and is the only true white meat that fans have gotten behind in a long long time...for those of you who are barely 20 years of age, the last time a white meat baby face was this over was about 10 years ago...but that was for a much shorter period if time.

So with all that, I'm gutted for Cody, I'm gutted for story-telling and ultimately, this is the ultimate way to kill a wrestlers push. First it was ridiculous Rollins begging a challenger for a match and then it was Cody just saying "meh, hey Rocky, I'll give you my Rumble win".

Was there any way this could have been salvaged? Yeah sure, have one of either The Rock or Cody turn heel, have a triple threat match or you know...have Rock work more than one date a year an actually win the Rumble. Why the WWE didn't go with any of that but went with this nonsense instead is going to cause a backlash...whcih we're seeing now.

Obviously it won't be as bad as the go-away heat of Batista, Orton and Cena, because Rock has genuine fans and they will be more than happy to see rock v Reigns but it wont be as hot as the reaction of Cody v Reigns last year and ultimately the WWE have pushed themselves into a most ridiculous situation, mainly: ROMAN WINS AGAIN LOL

It would appear that WWE wants everyone to believe that the reason they are doing this, is to make Cody an even bigger babyface than he already is. Sorry, I'm not buying that.
