Was listening to the Renee Paquette podcast with CM Punk from December of last year and upon being asked what it would take to get him to return to wrestling he said the following:

1. A good story, something fresh that keeps him excited and motivated in wrestling. Wants different then what he did in WWE.

2. "A stupid amount of money"

3. Fresh opponents.

In that order. We can assume that AEW has pitched a storyline that has got Punk excited and we know AEW has a heap of fresh opponents for him but that leaves the money.

How much do we all think he's getting and for how long? I reckon 10 million dollars over 2 years.

Depends if he had the same mindset right now than he did for that podcast. If he's excited enough about whatever storyline ideas they offered him, he maybe would be willing to take less money for that.

I'd say around $2.5-3 million annually.

Chip, you just told me the other day in this thread that you're not obsessed with how much money a talent makes per year or per contract... and here you are creating a thread talking about money again.

Even if all of us know to the exact dollar, why does that matter? I mean, besides the fact that the users already shitting on this, would use that information to further their negative critique. Otherwise...?

Yeah, I'm not obsessed if I was I would've already made this thread instead of waiting until I heard CM Punk on a podcast saying he wanted "stupid money" for a return.

As I explained in the thread you posted running a promotion myself I'm very interested in the business side of wrestling (Perhaps more than the show side of wrestling now tbh) plus with Punk saying he wanted huge money it's fun to speculate on what he may be getting.

Sports teams, movie studios etc list the wages of their key players/staff publicly all the time, why aren't wrestling fans allowed to be interested?

He’s making no more than 3-4 million per year. So around 10 million for 3 years sounds about right. Doesn’t really matter though we know how wealthy the Khan family is and Shahid himself said he wanted Tony to have fun and spend a stupid amount of money as long as he’s happy.

when you think about it, aren't we blessed to have a money mark like TK spending his daddy's money to make the wrestling world happy?

i was always miffed at this sort of statement, because I feel it undercuts the magnitude of what he's done

but fuck me if I'm not happy that he's in fact a money mark spending daddy's money :D :D :D (just a very capable one)
