Wasnt he mad at Scott and Don because this wasnt what he originally planned with the Karate Man?Damn, i wonder if he regrets this? LOL Something tells me ..no lol
He does regret it.. Somewhat. He claims it was a youtube thing that wasn´t meant to go to TV.. Well, It did, because he didn´t say no.Damn, i wonder if he regrets this? LOL Something tells me ..no lol
I really felt they had something planned with Ethan being in the Firm. I was hoping that after the Samoa Joe somehow they could get back to that. Let's not forget it was Punk himself that asked to work with Stokley Hathaway. It's very possible he asked Ethan, Big Bill and The Gunns to be part of it.Ethan Page should have been a midcard mainstay in AEW with the eventual reward of something like a tag title reign. There are lesser talents on TV who do what Ethan presumably would be willing to (drop falls regularly, make the top stars look good). What Ethan had that many don't is total commitment to the cause, he spoke about wanting to spend his career in AEW and help backstage. For whatever reason, he's now changed his mind and chosen to leave. This would've been avoidable if they'd thrown him a bone. He was doing some good work in ROH, but seemed overlooked when it came to AEW creative plans.
I'm not sure what is next for him. Given that he just started an indy, being on the road with WWE may be difficult unless he leaves someone else to run it. WWE have expressed interest in the past. A return to TNA, where Santana and Matt Hardy have gone back to and where Josh Alexander is a top guy, is a definite option. I would love New Japan to take a punt on him as an actual regular talent, not one of those who pops in for occasional appearances. But they are being very frugal with their finances right now. Konnan may try and book him in AAA, but AAA is the worst major promotion on the planet so it isn't enticing.
This isn't a 'fumble' per se as he's replaceable, but he was talented enough and better than a lot of the undercarders they've had on TV, so they should've done something with him, like a branded tag team. Men of the Year were ok but Scorpio had no charisma and everything he did seemed to suck the life out of the building. Ethan Page and Ricky Starks, two guys with talent but not really all the main event qualities, was a tag team idea I had last year.
after 5 years, there’s a clear track record of guys going from wwe to AEW or TNA to AEW (or even NJPW to AEW) and coming out a worse version of themselves. They don’t get over here, or they come in hot, and then fizzle out. Malikai Black, Andrade, Keith Lee, Miro, Ethan Page, Jay Lethal/Jeff Jarrett, John Morrison, Ethan Page, arguably Danielson and Edge. It's amazing to me how every guy who leaves AEW was a "wasted talent." Very few guys in wrestling are over with the crowd or can work a major program. Ethan Page is not one of those guys. He's a guy who can fill out a card, nothing more nothing less. If he goes to NXT he will be the same thing. If he goes to TNA, he will be the same thing.
How about World Champ? It's not like TNA has a stacked roster. The main event guys are what, Nemeth, Alexander, Hammerstone and Moose? I could see Page get into that. He could be a bragging egocentric Flair-like Champ.Would like to see Ethan get an opportunity in WWE. Even if he has to be in NXT for awhile. Surely he wouldn't be there for years considering how experienced he is....then again...Robert Stone has been there for ages.
What is there for him to do in TNA besides feud with Josh Alexander again?
Peter North?Shame never got to see him as the North in AEW. Would have massively helped the tag division.
