Well least Goldberg takes it as a compliment lol

During a recent interview with Graham GSM Matthews of the Bleacher Report, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg commented on AEW star Wardlow being compared to him.

According to Goldberg, he’s heard about the comparisons and doesn’t mind them. He said,

“I understand the comparisons. I’ve heard of him for sure. I’ve seen pictures of him. I haven’t seen him work that much. But, hey, man, more power to him. There needs to be more characters like that.

There needs to be serious intensity out there.

There’s people that slice meat and there’s people that eat meat and he needs to be eating meat — now Big E is going to come into it. But yeah, man , I don’t know. I’ve never read anything about a comparison from him and how he passes judgment on it. But at the end of the day, anybody that’s close to the top in their prospective business to be compared with myself. That’s an honor and a privilege.”

Wardlow isn't anything like Goldberg. Idc how much they try. He lost way too many matches already to even go that path. He needs to be just Wardlow and have his own aura. They even added the F5(F10) to his moves lol c'mon now with adding Brock stuff. Just let him be him

What a dick head Goldberg is lol. Although he would never have gone 5 mins with a guy who puts his hands in his pockets.

Goldberg going 11 minutes with Lodi in 1997-8. 🤣

Er, why is he a dick head here?

I don't see the comparison personally either, but Wardlow has a future.
I think there are obvious similarities.

The physique/stature, the powerhouse style, the intensity and explosiveness, the entrance coming from the back. Hell, even the beat to Wardlow’s new theme is taken from Goldberg’s.

Green as shit Goldberg in 1997 was probably still savvy enough to know having a 15 minute competitive match with Pockets would be a bad idea.
A great comparison to OC vs Wardlow i think is looking at WCW's Goldberg vs Norman Smiley.

Norman was pretty much a mid card face and a comedic joke just like Orange. However, WCW did right with this matchup as you see with Goldberg squashing him in no time, not letting Norman do his silly comedy moves on him, etc...While in AEW, Orange made Warldow look weaker and honestly heelish and a geek at the same time.

Goldberg's right that wrestling needs more characters with intensity. Wardlow does not have much intensity. He's just a pretty boy for the most part and brings out intensity for the end of his matches. I think he shows more comedy than intensity on average. When I think of his character now, he sounds kinda awful.

Goldberg and Jericho had heat because Goldberg refused to work with Chris as it would hurt his reputation but that's the difference between generations.

The old one knew wrestling was their money and they had to protect themselves in order to keep making money, wrestlers these days are just happy to be there, have to be friendly and do not confront bad booking. Politicking has its faults but you gotta stand up for yourself and your character.

Last week’s Dynamite told you he isn’t. Goldberg wouldn’t have been caught dead near the clown on the way up. Jericho was too much comedy for him.

Wardlow needs MJF to return, even if it’s just for his advice.
That's why I was cautious with my wording.

I dont mind Orange Cassidy but his matches against Wardlow and Adam Cole have been real facepalm moments. They're also a stark reminder that AEW isn't that different to WWE in the sense that at times it will cater to an audience of one.
