I think so. I don't think they could have used it much better. At first I was a little disappointed in such a short match, but I don't think they could have had a better way to get Sting over as a heel. I first thought when Sting went heel that there's no way they can get people to hate Sting, he's just too popular...I guess I didn't think about him destroying the one and only RVD...

Thoughts?

It was very good writing, and good to see TNA have some balls to go this way.

1. They gave Sting a excuse for why he lost. Which works much better then Sting losing clean to RVD in a 6-7 minute match.

2. They gave RVD a huge first win on Impact, yet they didn't give away a actual RVD match for free. So now people who are dying for a good long RVD match will have to wait for the PPV to see one.

3. Sting is a beloved wrestler, so it's hard to turn him heel and have it stick. Just like it is with Foley, Stone Cold or even Hogan at one point. So to get a guy like Sting over as a heel, you really need to give people a reason to hate him and really make him evil. If you don't then it won't stick just like Foleys many heel turns in TNA. So whats a better way then for Sting to get heat then attack a fan favorite in RVD who's making his debut? Sure TNA could have went the boring route of RVD pinning some average and going to the back all happy with a victory. But TNA switched it up and used RVD debut to help get heel Sting over.

So yes it was genius, and people who don't realize that aren't smart enough to get it.

he could have debuted atleast 1000 better ways.

It was the perfect debut for RVD. This one is in the history books already. An instant TNA classic moment. RVD vs STING is a dream match if you think about it. Not even the McMahons managed to accomplish such a meeting and potential feud.

I could not agree more. Some people that complain about it just dont get it. RVD beat sting in like 5 seconds that made him seem legit. Then sting needed to come off as a legit heel. He did amazing job at appearing as a heel. And RVD was so over the crowd chanted rvd the entire time. And i just cant say enough how sweet sting was as a heel. Thats the best heel ive ever seen.

I just want to add...I was a HUGE Sting mark since the WCW days, he was the man, I dressed like him for Halloween one time (really embarrassing)...I actually hate him right now...

It was genius, especially as far as turns are concerned. Sting was still cheered even when he was beating up Hogan and Abyss, but to snap of RVD on his own TNA debut solidified his heel turn. Now everybody is chanting Rob's name and expecting an epic fued between the two.

It did it's job then my friend, it did it's job.

Exactly...they KNEW nobody was gonna boo Sting no matter what he did. So what did they have him do?? Ruin one of the most anticipated debuts in TNA history. Not only that, have him continue to beat the hell of him well after the match was done. It could not have been written any more perfect imo.

Beating a dead horse here, but RVD's debut was perfect. Didn't make sense at the 123 but after the bell it all started to unfold. Plus we all pretty much knew RVD was coming and we all figured it would be the typical debut. So the Sting swerve is just awesome booking.

Typical TNA booking. That isn't a complaint or a compliment. It just always seems like their motto is, "If we can squeeze in five points of interest and five storylines and feuds in one, let's do it!" My biggest gripe is that by the time the segment was winding down, it became all about Hogan and Sting again. RVD was made out to be a supporting player. I don't like RVD, but even I thought that sucked.
