That was the thing when I lived in Wisconsin, the comfort food was unctuous and oily but so bland with the seasonings. And then I tried to feed my friends some southern style with the chili and the hot sauce and they looked as if I were trying to poison them.

Dude, anybody ever make a Luther at home?
Been there. Suffered through that. Was at a restaurant in Savannah that had this on the menu but didn't have the brat patty or all the different types of cheese. Instead, it was two fried donuts, a whole beef patty, three strips of bacon, a fried egg sunny side up, and a slice of cheddar cheese on the inside of each donut.

I was bogged down for the rest of the day and it felt like there was an anchor in my stomach.

To the topic, I often eat regular hamburger meat plain or smothered in gravy, but not on a bun. If it's on a bun, it's going to have cheese on it.

Op said the cheese masks the taste of the meat :bosh2

That's the first I've ever heard something like that. Something might be wrong with his tastebuds.
Or maybe the most flavorless meat of all time? Or he's tossing that stinky cheese on there, and then slathering it with BBQ sauce because fuck stinky cheese?

Chocolate and beef sounds positively disgusting Asenath. I'll pass.

I've only actually had them once, made them at home. Pretty frakking good, if I may say so.

I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for where they serve them at restaurants.
I was just wondering if you go to one of the 5-8's on your side of town because I frequent the one in Maplewood. Was also curious if you'd ever tried the one at Matty's or whatever its called. Those two establishments argue they created the Juicy Lucy.

I think you're thinking about milk chocolate or sweets. Chocolate was originally a savory thing, with chiles and herbs. Sweetening it was a later, European innovation. some of the best chili has unsweetened dark chocolate in the flavor base. And mole is . . . well, it has to be tried. But it's not sugary or sweet at all. It has a complex, bitter flavor.

But, de gustibus, and all that!

I'm aware of this. I still do not want any chocolate with my meat.

I bought one of those chili flavored 85% dark chocolate bars. To me it was so nasty I spit it out. A waste of $4

Turkey Burger seasoned well, avocado, pepperjack cheese and a chipotle mayo followed with pickled jalapeños.
