I've been wondering about this topic for a while and I wanna know what everyone else here thinks. The topic title makes it clear.
Basically, police decide to one day reopen the case and they find some sort of evidence that suggests Chris Benoit is innocent and he & his family were, in fact, murdered by an intruder. Now that's not what the question is.
The question is, how would Vince react and would he continue keeping his distance from Benoit's name or would he acknowledge the work police have been doing, lift the Benoit ban and let him be an open topic in commentary, video packages and so on?
As it is, the ban is in full force and the latest 'Vintage Collection' features a match of Finlay from 1998 where he screams Benoit's name during a rest hold. On this 'Vintage' release, the sound is muted when Finaly mentions Benoit and they have even gone as far as censoring his lips to avoid lip-reading.
And most importantly, if anybody is going to enter this topic just to say "he's not innocent, he did it", then just leave before posting because this is strictly imagination and a "what if" thread, similar to ones such as "What if Owen Hart didn't do the stunt", "what if Eddie Guerrero was still alive" and etc.
Since Benoit-related threads rarely go down well, I'll repeat this once again: This is NOT about Benoit's legacy, Hall of Fame induction, him being recognized as a wrestler, being a murderer or what happened that weekend. It's simply a question regarding what would happen IF police reopened the case and suggested that Benoit is not guilty of the murders. Specifically, Vince's reaction and how he would treat Chris Benoit's career and name in historic and promotional manner.
-------------------------
To add my opinion, I think Vince would not make it a big deal or announce anything about it anywhere but he would naturally let Benoit's name be mentioned like normal again. For instance, during the Royal Rumble month, they'll mention his #1 entry victory along with Shawn Michaels blatantly rather than subliminally, show him in video packages when necessary and display his pictures like normal on their site and at points where it only makes sense such as the Royal Rumble 2004 page and Wrestlemania XX. A Hall of Fame induction would probably happen a few years from the day he's ruled out as suspect behind the tragedy.
