as we all know, wwe year doesnt start on january, it starts after wrestlemania. and aj proved himself in matches against the top guys. he started in a tag team, ended it with a loss against jericho. and look at extreme rules. it wasn't just another good match. he was hard on roman. while its obviously fake, it LOOKED like he didnt pull any punch. he brought out real emotion in the ring.
that is what he does (or at least used to do), he brought in emotion to his matchs.

LA Knight is mostly catchphrases, but in the ring, no one can do what aj can.

and after extreme rules, he stood face to face with cena, and the house blew up. and they didnt even do anyrthing.

when you got a talent like aj, you dont just throw him away. especially not on his debut year.
your guy LA knight is not on that level. never will be.

the fact that you think comparing a guy like aj styles to LA knight, a mid carder that needed 20 years to find his gimmick to get over, which is a mix of rock and stone cold steve austin, is frankly, insulting.
First of all, my argument was never about throwing AJ Styles away. You brought up age first so if you’re going to die on that hill, then that means any “old timer” gets to be thrown out the window regardless of context.

Second, all that history for AJ Styles and did it amount to him being as over as LA Knight was last year? Hell, even now? No. What you think his value is as a wrestler means nothing to what he objectively brings to the company as an asset. You don’t become the face of WWE’s biggest sponsorship ever and not be worth at least one run with a world title. That’s ridiculous.

Literally the biggest sponsorship they've ever signed, and Slim Jim specifically wanted him, not Cody Rhodes, not Roman Reigns, to be their spokesman, and Triple H still isn't budging. The other one for the women was Bianca who is relentlessly shoved up everyones asses and has come out of almost every WrestleMania with a world title win.

It's absurd. He cannot bring himself to give LA Knight the world title for even as long as Drew Mcintyre held it at WrestleMania 40. Make it make sense.

I don't think he is going to be main event status in the near future and I kind of agree with HHH on him.
I don't think he has a defined ceiling and a hot feud can elevate him again but as it is booking to go over Cody, priest, Seth or Gunther doesn't feel right.

Make it make sense.
If you take the position that Triple H is still the same insecure bully that he was 20 years ago and doesn't like talent with more charisma and ability to get over than he had, it makes perfect sense.

He wants HIMSELF to be the star of the promotion. Him and his hand picked guys. That's why he poses with them and points after title wins.

I feel like WWE has been trying to cool LA Knight‘s popularity down for a LONG time.

I’ve never understood the hype around LA Knight but I feel bad for his fans since

I feel the same way about wishing Dakota Kai and/or Chelsea Green

would get a chance with a singles Championship.

My only hope (which borders on cope) is that Triple H is such a long term booker that he has the next three years planned out and somewhere in there is an LA Knight world title run.

If he wouldn't give anybody with more charisma than him a world title, ever, under any circumstance, he'd have never put the belt on Asuka.

This is just a continuation of what Vince did. Vince hated talent with charisma too, and would rarely reward them. He would sometimes, but it was rare, and it's the same with Triple H. He'll do it rarely, but it's rare. But that didn't used to be the case, it changed somewhere in the last 15 years. All of a sudden, Vince flipped a switch and Triple H seemingly went with him.

I don't think it's because "LA Knight has the ability to get over more than Triple H". So does Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes right now is a bigger star than Triple H EVER was. He's still in that position. Roman Reigns is more over than Triple H ever was. He's still in that position.

I think Triple H just flat out doesn't like him personally, or thinks he has no talent, for whatever inexplicable reason.

Give that idea up.

I seen it before with several guys. Cesaro was that same thing just on midcard level. No matter how much the crowd wanted him to succeed and sticked to him after disappointing results it did not matter.
I think wwe is simply too financially secure to be afraid to loose on an over guy. Overall the wwe product increased with Trips but he also comes with a bag.

One guy mentioned Damien Priest might appeal to new people. I ask which people he attract? Some twilight fans?
Generally over people appeal to non wrestling fans, the hype is taking over.

I am pretty afraid wwe is going to use Knight to push Logan even more.

Bro, YOU’RE the one who said he was too old and that was that. Don’t be shocked when people give you multiple examples to prove you wrong with the age factor alone.

And yeah, them being around longer doesn’t matter. It really doesn’t, especially when you consider that AJ Styles won the title within his first year in the WWE, which would’ve made him only two years younger than Priest is now.

^^^^^^ this guy gets it.

Imagine mentioning age and then missing the point.

No one brought length of time in to it, it was all about showing if you’re older but can still move like you’re younger and you’re over, there’s nothing wrong with being a main event guy.

I simply don't understand the concept of someone getting big, driving the ratings and merchandise, everybody loves him, he is over as Hell and bring in things that wrestling had been missing for a long time and you just stop the push in its track, damaging such a big opportunity for your company. Something that you may never get back. I have never seen this to THIS level before. Imagine if they had done that to Stone Cold. HHH is just dumb at this point.

In the fall of 2023 LA Knight was the most over star in wrestling when he was feuding with Roman. They should have nurtured that guy, keep feeding that energy and keep him over all the way to Mania. Hell if they had kept it going he could have been positoned to be World Champ at that very Mania! And there's MANY ways they could have kept it going. First of all they should NOT have done War Games with Cody against Judgment Day. It should have been a regular Survivor Series match with all the biggest faces vs the biggest heels. You would have Knight teaming with Cody and Orton and Jay against Roman and the Bloodline and maybe adding Dominik Mysterio. The faces side wins when Knight pins Roman, getting his win back. Another thing they should have done is not have Randy Orton be on Smackdown and continue Knight vs the Bloodline. And clearly not have Knight feud wiith AJ Styes.

Another thing I would have done is have Knight being in the Rumble and have a scene where he and Cody are in the ring at the same time to see who the fans would have cheered the most at the time. Just to give Knight another rub. Hell Knight could have been Top 3 at the end of the Rumble match.

Instead they did everything they could to overshadow Knight, kept him off TV, put bigger stars in there, he cannot even say hey beat AJ Styles cause Styles got his win back!

That has a been a complete demolition and it has been disgusting to watch. I have not watched much WWE TV since Mania cause I knew this would happen and I basically have not heard much of Knight since so that is why I have not been inclined to look at the show. Whereas last year, what he was doing was so hype, all his videos on You Tube were must-watch. That is why I had started watching WWE again.

Perhaps now it's safer to assume that WWE is never.. ever.. going to pivot it's plans when someone gets over on their own. Perhaps it's time to just accept that the juggernaut has grown beyond any capability of adapting or flexibility. Perhaps it's time that the best we, as fans, can ever hope for now is when someone gets over naturally they aren't punished for it and get to just remain at close to the same place on the roster.

That sounds horrible but might be true. Kinda like comunism and the movie Gattaca made a baby.

Vince McMahon
HHH
Tony Khan
Hell, even Verne Gagne

Seems like a lot of bookers hate when you get over on your own rather than staying in the spot they intended for you.

The fact Damien Priest is world champ and LA Knight isn’t, should tell u Triple H is a moron and doesn’t like him. (lol at all who thought the loss to Roman won’t hurt him; he’s never recovered)

Styles is a proven commodity in multiple organizations, LA Knight isn't.
Knight got more over in 1 year than AJ has his entire career with a consistent main event push and multiple world titles

Have you finally realized it's not gonna happen, though?
Nothing really has changed, I said LA Knight's first title win would and should be the Indisputed title, but sadly as long as the Cody/Reigns/Rock feud exist it would not be his moment.

I'm convinced he eventually will.. I don't like him getting older tho.

Both world championships are basically mapped out from here to WrestleMania. LA Knight can win the US Championship from Logan Paul and have a good reign with that and then after WM41 next year he can ascend into the main event properly with hopefully a world title reign. LA Knight will definitely still be over by that time too.
