Re: Brock Lesnar vs. Rey Mysterio (WWE Championship) - Survivor Series

Oscar Gutierrez winning the title would be my favourite moment in wrestling since Colby Lopez won the title at Mania 31. Always been a huge fan of the guy, itís never gonna happen but it would be a really special moment to see him finally win the WWE championship without the threat of losing it later in the night.

Hopefully a good match. Doubtful with Brock these days but I will predict a 2-5min match with Lesnar winning.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. Rey Mysterio (WWE Championship) - Survivor Series

You know, Rey could actually win here. They've been building to this match for a few months now--it's clear Cain was only a pawn for the build to this. The storyline here has been a little bit more elaborate than most Brock builds too, with Rey's son and Cain being involved. It's been super dumb, but that's not the point. It's the time they've put into building this that makes me suspicious.

Mysterio ain't as big a name as he used to be, but I can picture Brock actually agreeing to take an L here because of their history together.

Obviously I think Brock has to be favored. But the circumstances around this match don't feel like just another squash.

I'd love to see the noise and complaining on this sub if Mysterio beats him.

Yeah, Rey could win.....by disqualification.

The thing that makes me pause is that Rey apparently signed a pretty deluxe contract last year. The WWE had been lobbying hard to get him back, and Rey played coy for over a year with them. And in contracts for certain people, there may sometimes be "bonuses" or "clauses" in them. He's not just a regular guy on the roster with a regular contract like Finn or Joe have, I'm pretty sure his contract is better than most, possibly WAY better.

So his contract COULD have something on it to get one run with a top title.

Do I expect him to win? No. But I'm suspicious about this match.

Remember, Bryan won the WWE title last year almost immediately after he signed his new contract. And he won it during a time when he was clearly cooling off fast, he wasn't actually gaining momentum towards the title. It's utterly possible his new contract stipulated a run with the WWE title.

Yeah, Bryan beat AJ Styles. This is Brock. Rey Mysterio is not beating Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship unless Brock decides he's quitting the day of the show. That's it.

If he signed last year and his contract stipulated a run with the title, he would've had it last year. You say Bryan won the title almost immediately after signing his new contract, that's how it would actually go for Rey IF he had a new contract that guaranteed a title run.

Maybe so. We'll see, I guess.

If I read this a few months ago, I'd agree. Brock just put over Rollins clean twice though.

Rey is a bigger star than Seth, he's more beloved, more respected, more charismatic, a better worker, a better promo and won't get booed out of the building if he beats Brock.

Plus, they are gonna do Cain vs. Brock again at Mania, probably non-title. I can see Cain helping Rey win, Brock going away for a bit, then returning to feud with Cain in time for Mania.

Rey is hot right now and the last thing Raw needs is an absent champion AGAIN lol.

The other scenario I have seen people suggest is Rey's son costs Rey to lose the match which starts a Dominic vs Rey feud. Which is also very possible.
