Re: WWE Extreme Rules Discussion Thread
Gulak vs. Nese: 205 never hot potatoes their title. So even with Gulak being in his hometown of Philly, I'm picking him to win in what should be a hot pre show opener.
Usos vs. Revival: This is a feud that's cooled off a bit from the shenanigans before but now they're treating the Revival more seriously and the Usos too. Wish this could have had a gimmick like Tables or Ladders. But I expect a strong match here. Don't see The Revival dropping the belts yet, so I'm picking them to win.
New Day vs. Heavy Machinery vs. Bryan & Rowan: This should be great. Heavy Machinery have been getting a spotlight as of late and have been delivering. New Day always deliver. Bryan is one of the best in the world and Rowan compliments him well. So I expect a really fun match.
I think the time will come where Heavy Machinery should be champions, but I can't say it's that time yet. So I keep the belts on Bryan & Rowan.
AJ Styles vs. Ricochet: This is such a hard match to predict. On one hand, Ricochet is on a roll. Had a great mini feud with Cesaro, won a #1 Contender's match with guys like Braun Strowman in it, and then beat Samoa Joe to win the US title. He's on a roll, he's a new talent. So that usually means he should retain.
But AJ just turned heel and just reformed The Club in a big moment. So you can argue he needs to win the belt here to capitalize on that.
Again, it's a touch choice to make. Gun to my head, I'll pick AJ to win, but I don't think he'll hold it long. I'm just hoping for a fun match along the way.
Strowman vs. Lashley: Credit to them, with that stunt they pulled on Raw 2 weeks ago, they got me slightly interested in this match, where before I had no interest.
Let this be the end. And after what you did 2 weeks ago, there needs to be a huge spot in here to end it. Picking Braun to win.
Aleister vs. Cesaro: A long and probably unnecessary road to get here. But we're here, and there's probably no better guy to have as a 1st opponent than Cesaro.
I would open the show with this and make it an 8 minute sprint. This is Aleister's 1st big singles match. This does not need to be a case where Aleister is selling for long periods of time. Make it quick, make it hard hitting, and let Aleister win with Black Mass.
Bayley vs. Alexa & Nikki: With rumors of Alexa being sick and the backdrop of a possible Sasha return, I'm not too sure how this match goes down. But in the end, no matter what happens, I'm picking Bayley to retain.
Kofi vs. Joe: If Joe had been protected to the level that Kofi has as of late, I would care more about this. But he hasn't, so I really don't. Joe is a guy who talks a lot of trash and loses every big match. So I expect no different here. Kofi wins and moves onto something else at Summerslam.
Taker & Reigns vs. Shane & Drew: Even with this being No Holds Barred, we know this is going to be Roman getting his ass kicked for 10 minutes until Taker gets the hot tag. Or Taker gets taken out early on and has to come back later. No matter what, whether Owens gets involved or not, Taker and Reigns win with Taker hitting a Tombstone to win.
Corbin & Lacey vs. Becky & Seth: Just get it done. Corbin & Lacey have been established as losers who can't beat Seth or Becky. So why this is even happening, I don't know. Just let Becky & Seth retain and end this.
