Match card management

I've been thinking for a while about the management of this year's royal rumble card because there is A LOT of stuff in there and at the same time, some wrestler will appear in multiple matches.
Let's start with the lenght : RR should be about 4 hours long. Every Royal Rumble match will overall (promo, entrances, celebration and ending promo) take about 1 hour and 20 minutes. So the 2 RRm will already take about 2 h and 40 mins. Then we still have the 2 major championship matches, the Cruiserweight, the SD Tag team, the 2 women's championship and the US Championship. At this point, The Tag team match, the Cruiserweight match and the Us championship match will 90% go on the pre-show...at least 2 of these 3 matches.
Now, let's proceed with the matches order. You surely can't put both RR matches one after another because that would be extremely exhausting for the crowd. Just like 2018, they will probably put one in the middle of the show and the other one at the end. However, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Fill Balor have all been announced for both a singles match and the respective RR match. This means that, in order to have all them 3 do this, they must put their matches before the respective RR.....man this is such a mess!
I would probably go with this line-up anyway :

SD women's championship match
WWE championship match
Women's Royal Rumble
Cruiserweight match
Universal Championship match
Raw women's championship match
Men' Royal Rumble

So Sasha would first compete in the Rumble match and then the championship match. It sounds stupid I know but she was not a believable RR winner anyway

Re: Matchcard management

PPVs aim to be 3-5 hours long, depending on how important they are so if this starts at 6pm EST, I would wager it goes for 5 hours, maybe a bit over.
Brock goes on last.
The only way I can see him not being last is if for some crazy reason, Vince things Charlotte winning the rumble is better than Brock.

I can potentially see Finn losing to Lesnar (okay he's not winning, there's no way) and challenging AJ but through some fuckery, it's a triple threat to unite the titles at WM.
Same situation with the women's title.

On the other hand I could see Becky win the title, win the rumble and go on to challenge Ronda to unite them but again, since HHH has a boner for her, Charlotte is inserted to WM.

Either way I'm strongly believing that at least one person wins the rumble and gest a triple threat at WM

Re: Matchcard management

Here's how I would do it:

Pre-Show

1. Cruiserweight title match
2. Raw tag team title match (I'm expecting this to be added)
3. US title match

Main Show

4. SD women's title match
5. SD tag title match
6. WWE title match
7. Men's Royal Rumble
8. Raw women's title match
9. Universal title match
10. Women's Royal Rumble (let's face it, the Charlotte/Becky/Ronda stuff is hotter than any of the men right now and should be the main event)

Not bad but I would find some way to put the SD Tag Title match after the Men's Rumble and shuffle things around for the Raw Women's Title match.

You put Sasha vs. Ronda after the Men's Rumble they're going out there to a dead crowd which would be a shame. And for the main card, the one match I'm OK with that happening to is Miz/Shane vs. The Bar. It sucks for them, but someone has to take that spot.

The men’s rumble needs to close the show especially if Charlotte is winning the women’s. They had it last year so give us a new winner and put it on last

Re: Match card management

Men's Rumble must be the main event guys.
1) The men's Rumble IS the Rumble. Nothing against the women but there is no way the women's rumble match can match the importance of the men's Rumble. We are talking about a 32 years old match, the main event of WM.
2) Women already main evented last year and they will probably main event Wrestlemania.
3) The women's Rumble is much more predictable : is so clear that Becky and Charlotte will eliminate each other. Men's Rumble has at least 3-4 realistic potential winners and we will surely get at least 1 big main roster debut/return

Re: Match card management

I would do:

Pre-Show (in no particular order):
RAW Tag Title Match
Cruiserweight 4 Way Match

Main Show (in order):
SD Womens Title Match
US Title Match
SD Tag Title Match
Womens Rumble Match
WWE Title Match
RAW Women's Title Match
Universal Title Match
Mens Rumble Match

Have Becky win the SD Title, get the US title and SD tag title matches out of the way, have Charlotte then win the Rumble, have Bryan go on to beat AJ after, then have Rousey beat Sasha Banks, have a backstage segment between SD Champion Becky and RAW Champion Rousey with Charlotte involved setting seeds for the title unification, have Asuka in a segment that hints at a violent character change after losing which will eventually lead to her beating Becky clean for both titles at SSlam, then you have Demon Balor have a great showing in a loss to Lesnar or have Strowman screw Lesnar out of the gold, leading to the Mens Rumble where you can have Rollins/McIntyre/Joe win to close the show.

Crowd will be pissed about Charlotte winning if Becky is not in the Rumble so you can't have the Women's Rumble close the show. If Becky doesn't beat Asuka and doesn't end up winning the Rumble in the same night, then all hell will break loose. Better to have Asuka lose then proceed to change her character and build her back up to eventually win both titles later down the line if unification is the plan. We need to calm down with the women main eventing everything too, especially if they are going to main event Mania. The guys are looking like dweebs right now. I think the men closing is the right choice for the Rumble.

That's how I would book it.

"THE MAN" Becky Lynch. The FIRST WWE Superstar to be on the cover of ESPN.
The FIRST woman to pin Ronda Rousey.
The FIRST Undisputed Women's Champion.
2019 Women's Royal Rumble Victor.
The Greatest Female Wrestler Of All Time.
#Becky2Belts WILL RETURN.

Re: Match card management

Title unification is not going to happen. I have no idea why people keep bringing this up. If that were the case, Becky wouldn't have dropped the title in the first place, among other things.

Good point. That's the match that deserves the dead spot on this card.

The men's stuff is basically heatless at this point. That's what you get for booking everyone like a geek for so many years. The women's stuff isn't. Charlotte, Becky, and Ronda have much more intrigue.

And the men's Rumble is predictable too. Seth is the only one that has a realistic chance of winning. And he should win. He's the only one people actually care about at this point.

Re: Match card management

To keep the Rumble matches interesting, especially the Women's Rumble, I'd have all the title matches for those four belts on prior to the Rumble. That way you can still have Lesnar, Balor, Bryan, Styles, Asuka, Becky, Ronda and Sasha all still in play depending on if they lose their bouts.

1. Men's Royal Rumble match
2. The Bar(c) vs. Shane McMahon and The Miz
3. Women's Royal Rumble match
4. Brock Lesnar(c) vs. Finn Bálor
5. Buddy Murphy(c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Kalisto vs. Hideo Itami
6. Ronda Rousey(c) vs. Sasha Banks
7. Daniel Bryan(c) vs. AJ Styles
8. Asuka(c) vs. Becky Lynch
9. Rusev (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Re: Match card management

Pre-show

1. Rusev vs Shinsuke Nakamura
2. Cruiserweight Championship Match

Main show
1. The Bar vs The Miz and Shane McMahon
2. Ronda Rousey vs Sasha Banks
3. Brock Lesnar vs Finn Balor
4. Asuka vs Becky Lynch
5. Women's Royal Rumble
6. Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles
7. Men's Royal Rumble

4 and 5 together can be interchangeable with 6 and 7 together respectively.
