Are These "Supershows" supposed to be canon?

I mean, they seemed to be like glorified house shows that results and stuff don't really much matter (if they matter, at all, in grand scheme of things).

Whoever wins or loses seem to be just "there". So, I was thinking... are these shows supposed to be canon to the WWE storylines for the TV and/or PPV audience?

For the most part yes. The Shane best in the world bollocks etc carried on. However the attuide era way past their prime matches seem to be in their own bubble

Yes it is. House shows doesn’t have builds up on raw and Smackdown .

Goldberg vs Taker was promoted with appearances from both guys on both Smackdown and Raw and they had video packages etc.

Those shows should be and are regular PPvs and major ones at that

Re: Are These "Supershows" supposed to be canon?

To me, I feel like they are just glorified house shows that are aired. Sure, they build the matches up a few weeks before the event, but afterwards, it's just meaningless. Look at "Stomping Grounds" for example, practically all the matches on that card are just rematches from Super Showdown. How boring.

Btw I always get a kick out of when WWE does these huge car-crash battle royals, and the announcers are like "big things will definitely come for the person who wins this bout!" and trying to make it seem like it's important. Also, it's super embarrassing that all these wrestlers have to walk to the ring together, and only a select 3 or 4 get a proper entrance. I get you can't have an entrance for every single person, but at least just have everyone go together instead of giving special treatment to certain wrestlers.

Re: Are These "Supershows" supposed to be canon?

They're definitely canon. Almost everything on Raw and Smackdown these past couple of weeks lead up to them. Crown Jewel had a major build up to the World Cup, Brock Lesnar regained the Universal Championship on it, Shane McMahon has been talking about winning that title for the last 6+ months. Events at this most recent Super Showdown have already lead to another PPV match being booked.

The only major difference between them and other PPVs is that you don't really get title changes and you tend to get less clean finishes. They make up for that by inventing new titles and competitions - GRR, World Cup, Greatest Battle Royale - or having dream matches.

Re: Are These "Supershows" supposed to be canon?

Everything on the network is canon imo, but they are basically aired house shows in a stadium with legends. These shows have minimal build, there are no major title changes, no real storyline consequences, no fueds end etc. I know an "aired house show" is a contradiction, just don't expect anything to have major consequences on this show.
