Possible New Network Show

Via Meltzer's latest column:
Quote:
There are plans in place to do a WWE Network multi-week series built around lighter weight wrestlers. The very sketchy plans, meaning these details are likely to change, and this also easily could not happen, were told to me about producing ten episodes, built around a tournament for “unknown” wrestlers (meaning those who haven’t appeared on WWE or NXT television) who are less than 205 pounds. The idea is to do something similar to a Japanese tournament, although that could change. The idea is for something in the summer. Multiple people in wrestling have confirmed the idea in the planning stages, with one idea apparently being all indie guys with the idea that if they get over they’ll be signed. The other is to mix “hot indie” guys with some WWE developmental talent, perhaps as a vehicle to debut Manny Andrade (La Sombra) in a big way.
And yes, he does cover himself due to idiots not understanding that Vince changes his mind all of the time. Just pointing that out so that people don't start in with the distracting from the topic at hand.

Sounds promising, wonder if it will actually happen though.

Re: Possible New Network Show

If it does happen would they replace it with a different show? Because I feel like Superstars doesn't get much attention for it being on it as well as Main Event, I feel like if they add another show itll be too much.

Off topic, but how are the newer shows on the Network like Ride Along or the Edge and Christian show?

Re: Possible New Network Show

Why don't they do something like this on the main roster with the talent they already have i don't know, i guess creative is just brewing with so many idea's filling up the 6 hours of tv a week they can't fit it in?

.......yeah about that.

I don't think this is a good idea, to be honest. I am the only one who thinks that?

The first episode of Ride Along was pretty decent. The New Day is hilarious and the ending with Xavier Woods was pretty funny.

Edge and Christian's show hasn't started yet and doesn't start until right after Fast Lane I think.

Re: Possible New Network Show

I would like to see a Mr. McMahon show, where he's just Mr. McMahon and does whatever he wants and says exactly what needs to be said. Maybe an open panel show, where the problems within the WWE are addressed, honestly by the one person many would love to have their questions answered.

For some reason, I don't actually like Ride Along.

Re: Possible New Network Show

Under 205 lbs? That's...not a lot of people. I mean even the likes of Ziggler are more than that. The only guy that comes instantly to mind is Neville. Maybe Kalisto?

I don't know, it doesn't sound that appealing. It seems stupid to have a show centered around a weight class when anyone from the Big Show to Mysterio can hold the heavyweight title.

Re: Possible New Network Show

If you do it with wrestlers outside the company, you can always bill it around them earning a main roster contract.
