How do you feel about mobile gaming?

I think it's good for people who aren't actual gamers and just wanna kill time playing bejewelled and such on their phones while they commute by train or wait in lines. But for actual games it kinda sucks, imo. Full of micro-transactions and having to stay connected to the internet while you play makes you waste money on data outside if you play long enough, which kinda defeats the purpose of it being mobile. So, most of those free-to-play, but pay-to-win games are supposed to be played at home or near a good wi-fi network? How fun...

Only exceptions would be some classic games by Sega. Like, if you pay for Sonic 1, 2 and Sonic CD you'll be able to play it offline without commercials and will have 3 classic games on the go; but you can also play Sonic 1 and 2 on the 3DS, which I have, so....

Yeah, not a fan. Most mobile games are FTP but PTW and the best games out there don't hold a candle to actual videogames you find in console gaming and PC gaming.

Re: How do you feel about mobile gaming?

I got into an MMO I want to say around last November, and it hooked me until around April or May of this year. I am embarassed to say what I spent on Gacha, but when it hit me that I would never be equal to whales (I guess bigger ones then the amount I was spending) I got sick to my stomach and am now turned off on mobile games. Mobile games will never reach the gameplay of console or PC games, but the fact that everyone has a phone makes mobile games as popular as they are. I have a few brainless ones I will play on trips and whatnot, but I really do despise them.

They're all pay to win in the end anyway. Unless you wanna grind something into oblivion and get some sort of interest from torturing yourself.

Yeah, every time I tried one I uninstalled it a few days later.

Yeah. And also, I dunno how people can bring themselves to buying a lot of those micro-transactions that basically just speed up the game and lower the grinding needed. At least console and PC gaming DLC often unlocks characters, levels, game modes, features, gameplay improvements, etc.

I'm old and stuck in my ways. For me video games should be played on a couch with a room full of friends. I hate being hunched over a tiny screen. Most mobile games dont even really feel like you're doing anything. And dont get me started on micro transactions.

Totally agree there's no entertainment pleasure playing games you have to constantly pay for.

Re: How do you feel about mobile gaming?

I used to play WWE Supercard, I never really got anywhere as the grind would have me ripping my hair out. I'd spend 15 minutes here or there having a few matches. I'd get 50 Titus O'Neils when all I wanted was a Tamina or a Kane. Then I'd notice these "special" cards, cards which cost up to 100. Why the fuck would anyone pay so much for a non existent card? I can get a few full games for that for PS4. Plus they later refreshed the whole game for Season 2 making all the cards you collected previously obsolete. So pretty much gave up after that.

I find it ridiculous. There was a zoo game i'd play but it was an idle one, so it was like literally 1.99 to remove ads, which I didn't really mind as it helps out the developer to improve on it. But then a few months in they were charging 30 for rare animals that you collect for perks. That's when I was like yeah, this isn't for me anymore. Now I just stick to Sporcle quizzes and games for the PlayStation (or for my classic console collection).

Re: How do you feel about mobile gaming?

Im worried that with the success of mobile gaming revenue, they will make the same exact model for consoles. Im a believer of not paying for microtransactions . The furthest I would go is for DLC's or cosmetics. Even though I never spent money on additional content for a game. Other than that if a game has more microtransactions I dont purchase or download the game.

I was looking at some of these games now and they got, regular edition, Deluex edition, silver edition, Gold edition, platinum edition, all for the same game title. Its insane.
