After 4.0.0, I didn't think we'd get an update that did quality of life-level buffs so reasonably well for a number of characters that needed some TLC, and yet here we are:
- King K. Rool went from a middle-of-the-road low tier character at best to feeling like a reasonable inclusion in the lower end of mid tier. Kirby and Jigglypuff were in the same boat, but because they still have polarized aspects to their mobility (and some moves as well, in the case of Jiggly), their buffs make me see them giving Little Mac a run for his money in the upper portion of low tier.
- While Donkey Kong's general perception has, like K. Rool's, taken a nosedive from initially viewed as a top tier to most recently fluctuating between mid tier and low tier, the buffs he got have cemented him as a mid tier.
- Although Incineroar and Robin probably won't have their tier placements advance too much in comparison to Kirby, DK, K. Rool and Jiggly because of more potent competition residing in mid tier, sleeping on them would be more unwise now than ever before because of how their respective buffs made some of their best options noticeably more cohesive.
Geno is coming in pass 2. FIGHT ME.
We've had a number of Mii Fighter costumes (specifically the Inkling, Chrom, Isabelle and King K. Rool costumes) in SSB4 that wound up being teasers of playable characters to come in Ultimate. So although we got Eleven, Arusu, Solo and
Eight to rep Square Enix alongside Cloud, Geno could very well join them, since he's still a costume. Honsetly, you never know who could make it in.
In the meantime, if you're still invested with K. Rool, definitely give him a whirl now that update 6.0.0 is live. He still has some glaring issues (primarily high ending lag and, aside from his buffed neutral air, high landing lag) that could be tended to in a minute way, but the buffs that he did
get in this update are too damn solid to be ignored.
