Re: The Walking Dead: The Final Season

Played through Episode 1 again yesterday...

Spoiler for Spoilers:
Pretty sure now that you’ll end up having to choose whether to save Louis or Violet at some point, with the possibility that Clem will get into a relationship with one of them too. Got a theory brewing about Abel, though that may be shot down depending on what happens in the one scenario I haven’t tried with him in the standoff...

Have to say I was surprised that only 22% of players chose to let him leave with some of the food. I went with that option almost straight away in my first play through, as I didn’t think Clem would risk AJ’s life in that position. Also, the basement scene with the reanimating Brody is probably as tense as a TWD game has gotten.

EDIT: Tried having AJ shoot Abel today, fair to say that didn’t work! This means my theory about him is still alive, namely that he will turn out to be immune to the whole zombie/walker virus thing. It’s way out there, I know, and basically just comes from him having different coloured eyes, but I’m going with it...

Telltale have released a brief glimpse at Episode 2 (doesn’t reference what happened at the end of Episode 1)...

Re: The Walking Dead: The Final Season

Played through the second (and very possibly final) episode of the season this week:

Spoiler for spoilers for Episode 2:
So, the main thing to take away from this episode is that Abel gets seriously fucked up! Beginning to think my theory on him was as ridiculous as I thought it was, and that heís mostly there as a human piŮata...

Lillyís return is obviously the big development. She seems to be the main antagonist of the season, though Iím still not 100% convinced about that. Sheís had a couple of chances to kill Clem and hesitated, so she might not be completely beyond redemption yet. Almost certain sheís going to die, but wouldnít surprise me if she does so saving Clem.

The episode gives you the option of getting into a relationship with Louis or Violet. All very progressive, and either one of them is a vast improvement over that whiny brat Gabe, though Iíve gone down the middle in my main play through and friend-zoned Violet. In the episode-ending battle against Lilly and the raiders, you have to choose between saving Louis or Violet (as expected), although the other one gets captured instead of killed.

If you hated AJ in Episode 1, this one probably wonít change your mind too much, although he does get the best line of the episode. Iíve continued to try and keep him on the straight and narrow, though Iím not sure thatís even possible. The addition of a Whisperer was a pretty big surprise, I suspect he will have a big part to play later on in the season.

Of course, that all depends on whether we even get any more episodes. Telltale going to the wall obviously puts that in serious doubt, though their latest statement at least gives us some hope. Would be a huge shame if the story gets cut short this close to the end, especially as so much effort has clearly been put into this season...

Re: The Walking Dead: The Final Season

The only downside to having an actual combat system is having to see Clem get killed by walkers when I fail at it

I'm so sad this might be the last episode. I was really loving this season, lots of quiet moments and that's where the game shines.

I went with Violet because James might not be an option. Violet leading the group reminds me a little of Lilly back in S1. Not a great thing.

Yeah, Iíve died more than a few times in Walker battles....

Have to say, the scene with Clem and Violet on top of the bell tower is probably the best the series has ever looked. The graphics on the whole are a big improvement over previous seasons.

Re: The Walking Dead: The Final Season

Still no further update from Telltale about the fate of Episodes 3 and 4, although the game still shows the same release dates for both as before.

Anyone go with the “spit on Marlon’s grave” option in E2? Found it a really weird (and somewhat OTT) thing to have in there tbh, and it doesn’t seem to lead to anything if you do it. Just replayed E2 again, making Clem as big a bitch as possible to everyone. Has to be done...
