Re: Death Stranding (A Hideo Kojima Game)

One thing that is perhaps good to keep in mind when going into the game is that it is an open world that appears to take more from the likes of Shadow of the Colossus and Breath of the Wild than it does from games like The Witcher III and big Ubisoft titles like AC: Odyssey that have an open world filled to the brim with NPCs, quests and the like.

It is a world with lots of intentional empty space which in theory is meant to make the big moments all the more impactful. Like with Shadow of the Colossus, you have this calm desolate world where all you can do is collect fruits and lizards and then boom, you come across a giant Colossi.

Can't wait to start playing.

Oh and I bought a new gaming rig for this, Cyberpunk, RDRII and a few other games to play them at ultra settings. I know it'll be a while before it comes to the PC but since the PC gaming library is steadily growing it as the right time to upgrade.

So what do people think about this? ive watched some videos and some streams and sadly it looks pretty boring.
its like the game is just a bunch of fetch quests that everyone hates doing in RPGs and no real meat to the game.

You should get PC Game Pass its only $1 for the first month. Get outer worlds for free with game pass, its a great game if you like New Vegas style games.

Re: Death Stranding (A Hideo Kojima Game)

I bought it yesterday. I am yet to play it as Im still wondering whether I should open it and try it or simply take it back to the store.

The guy on the counter even said to me that many people were on the fence about it but it was generally selling well. Overall, some people are saying its a masterpiece whilst others are saying its just boring and dull.

I really don't know what to do tbh. I would really like to try it but part of me just doesnt want the headache of trying to sell it on before the price drops. Im kind of just thinking I will take it back and buy it later on. Im somewhat worried that some people just don't want to admit its not a great game.

Return it and wait for the Steam release tbh if you're that unsure because on Steam you can refund after trying a game for 2ish hours (unless you're talking about the PS4 version then no such option).

@birthday_massacre ; - Nah man. I'm not gonna get any subscription service for gaming. I got PSNow for a year and I barely used it and only ended up playing Journey on it lol.

I'm ok with buying games outright when they're on deep sales. I have several games that came out between 2014 and now that I would like to get through first anyways which is at least a few months of games available to me.

Re: Death Stranding (A Hideo Kojima Game)

Kojima somehow managed to make an open world game that's even more empty than MGSV, with less options, features and mission variety.

Don't think he understands Rockstar has had like 20 years experience making open world games. He can't just jump into them now and expect the same quality and polish as GTAV and RDR2.

yeah its PS4, Im kind of tempted to just play it, see how it goes and sell it straight on if it doesn't suit me. On the other hand, Im so busy at the moment that it might just be easier to take it back and try it later on at a reduced price. I have 30 days to return it so it won't be difficult to do.

I keep hearing the same negative points and watching videos on youtube hasnt really proved those points wrong. Just seems like a big gamble when I spent 50 on it. I didnt mind spending that on red dead redemption 2 because I knew I would enjoy it and it got very high reviews......this not so much. It seems to be either loved or despised.

I will even admit that Im rather disappointed by the game essentially being a massive fetch quest simulator, I did have higher expectations when it came to the gameplay after ages of ambiguity and crazy visuals. It just doesnt look that imaginative and revolutionary as it was seemingly portrayed.

Re: Death Stranding (A Hideo Kojima Game)

So far really enjoying this, the managing of tools, equipment and the mechanics are great imo but yes the game it's what you see, about delivery and getting into this bizarre HOLLOW sci fi world with Kojima weird af storytelling, it's 100% niche if you have doubts don't try it.

Now I'm glad this time Kojima returned to put ton of cinemas, I know some people hate that but MGSV lacked them and hated the audio tapes format to tell us more about the history.
