Anyone pick this up yesterday? I stopped and got it after work for XBox. Yes, I'm old school and still want physical copies of my games and movies lol.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to play, but wow, this is everything I expected and more. Igarashi hits it out of the park with this one. Can't wait to play some more.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night by Koji Igarashi

It was released on Switch today, anyone get it? People on twitter were complaining about this port. Graphics weren't as good and some other glitches. Anyone have any input?

I've had it for a week on Xbox with zero issues.

We have been listening to the feedback regarding Switch performance. Our goal is for everyone, regardless of platform, to be able to enjoy the game and have it run smoothly. We want to live up to your, and our, expectations.

Throughout the QA process we have been addressing performance issues in the game. Update 1.01 was published to Switch prior to launch to add content and improve performance. It did not accomplish as much as we had hoped and we need to do more.

To address the concerns brought up by the community we are immediately shifting resources to improve performance and stability for the Switch. You can expect a number of small updates that will improve different areas of the game rather than waiting longer for one big update. We will have more details as we dive into the work.

We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.

Good to know they are working on it. Doesn't come out on Switch in the UK until Friday so hopefully they'll have something ready by then.

Hopefully they get things straightened out, cause this is truly a good game. Any fan of the Metroidvania games is going to love it. You would think with the amount of time this game was in development, there wouldn't be these issues. However I believe this game was originally in development for the Wii U, which probably didn't help.

Clearly released to meet a deadline, rather than released when it was actually ready. You see this way too often these days. They talk about the QA process. There is no way that this Switch port was tested properly prior to release. If it had been, the release would have been delayed, rather than get themselves huge bad press, and having to scramble to bug fix while people are trying to play their game.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night by Koji Igarashi

I've had zero issues on my SWITCH version. The only problem is I'm losing sleep and unable to stop playing. I've read zero complaints about performance till I saw that quote.

Any who, I compiled a list of 2D platformers / Metroidvania games i've played over the last few years. I no doubt missed a few, but wanted to share this list as I've scoured the globe to find more. I rated them 1 to 5; 5 being best. I would love feedback and criticism on my scoring. I'll wait to rate Bloodstained till I beat it.

Scoring Scale is 1 to 5:

1 La-Mulana 2 - 1
2 Chasm 1
3 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD 1
4 Cave Story + 1
5 Alwa's Awakening 2
6 Rain World 2
7 Hollow Knight 2
8 Shantae and the half genie hero 2
9 Shadow Complex Remastered 2
10 The Messenger 3
11 Xeodrifter 3
12 Dead Cells 3
13 Shantae and the Pirate's Curse 3
14 Sundered 3
15 Celeste 3
16 The Fall 3
17 Teslagard 3
18 Dust: an Elysian Tale 3
19 Owlboy 4
20 The Mummy 4
21 Salt and Sanctuary 4
22 Timespinner 4
23 Ori and the Blind Forest 4
24 Ironclasts 4
25 Guacamelee! 4
26 The Swapper 4
27 Axiom Verge 4
28 Strider 4
29 Out There Somewhere 4
30 Guacamelee! 2 - 5
31 Steam World Dig 2 - 5
32 Headlander 5
33 Apotheon 5

Loving the game so far, doing some end game food grinds right now.

That's a pretty big list, I'm going to have to give some of those a shot. The only one I played was Axiom Verge. I thought it was fantastic, the combination of the 8-bit graphics with that killer soundtrack did it for me. I'd give it a 4.5.
