Re: General Gaming Discussion
Started Dark Souls. LMAO @ the Asylum Demon jumping up at me. I was trying to decide whether or not to two hand my sword and when I saw the motherfucker come at me I was all ''WHAT DO I DO WHAT DO I DO???'' Killed it the second time because that fall shot took like half of its health off. I'm going to have to get used to the rolls in this game being different from Demon's Souls.
Mega Man X4 and X5 are frustrating and crap. Most of the levels are god-awful designs with a lot of them having shitty camera that doesn't let me see ahead so I die before even getting a look at the screen. How do you fuck up a camera in a sidescroller? Not of all of this is crap but most of made me just want to play X or X2. And shred my hair to bits.
Tried some 3DS demos. I have no idea how to play Monster Hunter, I keep getting killed by the koala thing that turns you into an ice ball. I was surprised how much I liked Phoenix Wright. Those sorts of all-text kind of games never looked interesting to me but I had fun with it and would definitely consider actually playing full Ace Attorneys (and maybe other of these types of games despite the bland ''people are forced to murder each other'' plots that seem to be attached to them). The Castlevania I demo'd was fucking awful. Like, I felt sick after it. Sonic Lost World didn't seem terrible, though you only get to try like 2 levels. I liked Bravely Default a lot but the streetpass thing pissed me off. Why should I wait 45 minutes for ethers to come available to me? I did OK on most bosses, the wind witchy thing I did third time, final golem I did 2nd time, and turtle and dragon and other thingy (where the skeleton enemies are) I did first time. Tiz and Edea got knocked out during the dragon battle, though. That was annoying. The brave/default is a pretty simple but really cool idea. I thought it was massively broken at first until actually get to an enemy I wouldn't one shot. That's one of the cool things about it, you can make grinding less time consuming by just braving four times and annihilating the common enemies. Speeding the battle up helps, too (I never grinded but if I were to it would be less annoying than other RPGs I'd imagine). Choosing between default for getting the defense bonus or not was some great ''which fucking one'' decision making. Definitely playing this eventually.
I played one level of Yoshi's New Island on a 3DS XL at an EB Games today and pretty much immediately didn't like it. Obv not judging the whole game, but controls just made me made the 'ehhhhh' face as soon as I tried it. Jumps in particular don't feel right.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is amazing and I almost want to say it will certainly be one of my favourite games ever when I beat it. I'm currently on this civilian save mission though that I find pretty much impossible. So I'll probably never beat it. Then again I had only 1-1 and 1-2 of Demon's Souls beat in 10 hours and thought it was going to take me 80 hours but ''only'' took me 36. I'm sure I'll beat it eventually. I still haven't captured an alien. Partly because I'm never close enough and also partly because I don't know if I can catch any type or just a sectoid.
