He got a push for a month, basically getting the US title before losing it to Swagger, in an angle that served no purpose other than to help Cena get over, since Cena ends up beating Swagger up... and Swagger went on to lose the belt to Santino. From there, Kane starts attacking Ryder, and from this, Cena decides to save Ryder again, beating Kane cleanly at the PPV.

Essentially they had Cena leech off of Ryder's popularity while on his way to wrestlemania, and for his help, Ryder's been buried for 2 years.
