I'm an American and some of my favorite shows of all time are non-American TV shows. Americanized television can have a certain blandness to it at times. There are lines not crossed that non-American shows are more than happy to cross.

What are some of your favorite non-American television shows?

I've seen few mentions of Dr. Who. I know the show's history but I have only watched a few episodes with the current doctor. It looks like an awesome show. I've just never gotten around to it yet.

Being in America I have no way to watch foreign shows but I have heard of Mr Bean and Dr Who. I don't even watch much American tv. Maybe twice a week and that's it.

I barely watch American TV nowadays. Most of my favorite shows are British stuff that's beloved by older women. Think PBS/Masterpiece Theater.

Lark Rise To Candleford
Downton Abbey
Call The Midwife
Mr. Selfridge
Midsomer Murders
Inspectors Lewis & Morse
Doc Martin
Death In Paradise
Upstairs Downstairs
Vikings- It's on a US network but I think it's a foreign production

Plus pretty much any one-off or mini-series period drama. Basically, I'm there if it has bonnets.

Watched/loved the following growing up....

Doctor Who- I hate 21st century Who with a passion. The Doctor has become the most annoying character on television. He has the winning percentage of Cena (with the "comedy" to boot!) and the preachy self-righteous moralizing of CM Punk. The Doctor magically turning into a soccer star (complete with adoring goofs chanting his name) was one of the most nauseating things I've ever seen on TV. That was the straw that broke the camel's already overburdened back for me. To be fair, annoying Doctor's started with Tom Baker. I love the first 3 though. Jon Pertwee ftw!

Red Dwarf- Top 10 sitcom of all time for me. Maybe Top 5.

Orphan Black- Airs on BBCAmerica, dont know if it is USA or British though.
Hex- British show about witches was very fun.
