There are many guys who are just being wasted away right now with no hope of getting over enough to to chase the ic or us title. I think we need the title back to put over guys enough to get them to that solid midcard level. In this age of smaller wrestlers I think it would work better than ever. Just look at this list of people that could be in the cruiserweight division.

Curt Hawkins
Primo
Epico
Evan Bourne
JTG
Heath Slater
Justin Gabriel
Sin Cara
Trent Baretta
Yoshi Tatsu

that's a respectable amount of people who are talents but aren't really getting anywhere. They could greatly benefit from the tv time. and with a cruiserweight roster like that you could do all the gimmick matches from Ladder Matches to Battle Royals. Anyone agree?

The belt would be pointless as wwe find it hard to book US, ic and tag title defenses regularly.
As much as I agree with OP's point, it's this.
WWE doesn't seem to have the ability to book their titles well in the first place, nevermind adding a whole new title. It's something that tears me apart on the inside because that kind of wrestling is what I like, I'm a smaller guy, those were the guys I looked up to when I was younger because they were doing something I could realistically see myeslf doing, and I hate that their kind of wrestling is kind of discouraged in the WWE, but then again I have TNA, ROH, Chikara, DGUSA and pretty much all of Mexico and Japan to get my fix.

If they ever smartened up and ended this "brand split" while consolidating their titles then maybe. Three singles titles is something I dream of having.

How could you forget Hunico from your list OP. He's one of the best smaller guys on the roster. Anyway it would be good to see the Cruiserweight Title return, especially in this era of smaller guys as you say, but WWE can't even book their other mid-card titles properly (especially the U.S Title and the Tag Team Titles) so adding another title would be pointless.

Yes I agree that they aren't treating their secondary championships very well but I don't think that would be too hard to fix. I think the ic titles doing ok. The last couple of champs have been pretty good. The us title...major room for improvement but I still don't think this would be too hard to fix. What about just a general third tier title in general like the european championship? It's actually one of my favorite old titles and it was great to see the lower card get some exposure and have something to fight for. I still think that all these guys would benefit from this and if you just made it a general title then you could have all those guys plus Alex Riley, Tyler Rex, Drew Mcintyre, Ted Dibiase, and Jinder Mahal. Basically anyone who works on Superstars. They're already wrestling every week but no one watches them. Why not put them on the 3 hour raw, get them some exposure, and introduce a title so the fans have something to care about?

I agree but I figured he's needed in the tag division along with Kamacho. They're starting to move in the right direction but they need these established teams to make it credible.

This is how I'd fix it, and I don't know how popular the idea is around here, but it's just my opinion.

End the brand split and then gradually consolidate the titles. Punk/Bryan was the perfect opportunity for this, but they blew it. Bryan should have gone over Sheamus, let's face it, he's the bigger draw and the better wrestler. They could have had a couple run off feuds for a few months which led to a feud between Punk and Bryan which lasts until Summerslam. I'd assume at that point that Punk would go over Bryan, unifying the belts, bring back the Undisputed title belt, you could even keep Punk's heel turn up by saying that he's bringing wrestling back to its roots, etc.

After that, gradually merge the IC and US titles, I don't know how or when, but do it somehow. Have Miz say he's what a champion should be and that Santino's a joke, etc. (It isn't a lie.) Have this lead to a match and have them keep the Intercontinental and quietly retire the US title. Then you would have room to bring in either a specialized title like the Cruiserweight or a lower midcard title like the European. But let's face it, the kind of people who hold the European title aren't even on TV anymore. That lower midcard? They're never on TV, and when they are they job. So Cruiserweight makes sense. It would at least give some very talented guys an excuse to be on TV. If nothing else justify the money they're spending on Sin Cara....

But with the current state of things? I don't see how they could make it work. There are too many titles for the amount of tv time as is.

^I agree with you entirely Xmaspast. Especially with the 3 hour show this would be the perfect opportunity to do all that. As for what you said about the lower guys never being on tv well like it or not they are the future of the WWE and they're going to be all we have left eventually. This would be a great chance to get them on tv. I still think it should be a 3rd tier title to get ALL the lower guys working but a cruiserweight one would work too.

If they can't make the WWE title and WHC look credible, do you really think it's time to bring the cruiserweight championship? After hornswoggle won it there's no way back, it's buried.

The IC belt is the way to go...

A quick way around that would be to completely remove the WWE Championship picture from Smackdown altogether. Keep RAW for WWE and theoretically the European title, and then Smackdown for the IC and Cruiserweight feuds. Tag teams could be on both brands. That way when PPV's roll around the belts have a clearly defined hierarchy. WWE>IC>European. The IC wouldn't be billed as a world title so no one would say that it's more important than the WWE, and the European would be clearly established to feature lower card wrestlers. Cruiserweight belt obviously would be in a class of its own because it's specialized and there you have it.

Wasn't there talk of the WWE starting a seperate Cruiserweight show on their WWE Network when it airs? Maybe it was just a rumour, but I definitely think that would be the way to go. Let that show be the focus of the cruiserweight division, and just every now and then, have a title defense on Raw/SmackDown/PPV.

Not unless they seriously overhaul the roster. WWE don't have a handle on anything but the main event, and even that's debatable. All you have to do is look at the direction of any given belt in the company to see where the Cruiserweight title would end up. In fact, I'd wager anything that it would primarily be defended on Superstars given the current state of the roster.

There's no doubt that a Cruiserweight division headed by Evan Bourne and Sin Cara could become entertaining, but much like with the rest of the roster, the depth isn't there at the moment. If you start including guys like Heath Slater and Curt Hawkins, the concept is completely lost. Those guys aren't Cruiserweights in size or style. JTG is probably the worst wrestler on the roster, so including him would get the division off to a horrible start. Yoshi Tatsu, Justin Gabriel and Trent Barretta would be fantastic additions, but they're largely irrelevant, and with the possible exception of Justin Gabriel, I don't see that ever changing.

Hunico and Kidd, on the other hand, would be absolutely ideal. Hunico is just unique enough to stay relevant in limbo, and Kidd is one of the best wrestler on the roster. Those two guys feuding over the CW title would probably work.

But for a Cruiserweight division to truly take off, the WWE would need to bring in new and old talent alike to focus the division and bring something unique to the product. Signing a couple of veterans like Brian Kendrick and Paul London (of which, I'm sure the latter will never happen) would be a great start.

I think they can stretch the limits of what a cruserweight is for the sake of the product. Heath and Curt may not exactly be cruiserweight size but they're close and to have a well rounded division, not everyone can just be a high flyer. I mean, look at Dean Malenko. One of the best cruiserweight champs there ever was.

I think the smartest thing they could do to lend it credibility would be to give it to Rey Mysterio right off the bat. He's popular, he's a former World Champion, and most of all he has the skills to back it up. He's also currently on the roster, and that's a big plus.

The one worry I'd have about them bringing in new or old guys to establish it is that WWE's internal management doesn't seem to respect the guys they do bring in. Case and point for that was Ultimo Dragon. Easily one of the best cruiserweights of all time, if not the best, and they squandered him.

Can't say I agree on that. Rey, whether small or not is far above the cruiserweight title now. If anything the main star should be Sin Cara. With him working with the smaller guys which he's more comfortable with. I could see Rey and Sin Cara having a feud to determine the first champ with Sin Cara going over as a way of passing the torch to the new generation of cruiserweight wrestling. I do agree that bringing in old talent would probably be a waste of time. Let Sin Cara, Evan bourne, and Justin be the stars of the Division while Heath could be the main bad guy.

That's fair. I hadn't thought of using Rey more as a torch passer to lend the title some credibility, if someone like Rey could WANT the Cruiserweight title so bad it would lend it the same level of credibility as him actually having it would. I think I like your idea better than mine.

Yeah I think it could really work. People have been wanting a feud between these two ever since Sin Cara debuted. Rey's worked all around the world so I'm sure that him and Sin would mesh nicely and probably make Sin Cara look really good. Throw in a revamped title that both of them care about and you have the start of a exciting division.

I agree completely... I had a forum on this like a year ago... Still nothing-.-xx.... But I think the WWE is getting there... I think they are going at it step by step... I think at the moment their main focus is the Tag Titles and Intercontinental Championship... But i think that the IC and US championships will be merged... I think that Santino as US champ just screams "Get rid off this championship"... But i 100% disagree that the WWE and WHC should merge... I think that althought the depth isnt there in the main event picture... With 3 hours of RAW and 2 hours of Smackdown a week... They need 2 main event titles... I have a feeling that WWE will have this heirachy WWE>WHC>IC>Tags... Untill around WrestleMania... When something massive happens and one of the Hardcore championship, Cruiserweight Championship or European Championship returns?...

I don't think it works to have two World titles and only one secondary title. That just sounds odd to me. and really, how many world title worthy wrestlers are there really right now? Cena, Punk, Bryan, Sheamus, (shudder) Orton, and Jericho. We should have only one. world title>Intercontinental>3rd tier. It worked beautifully in the attitude era and it would work now.
