Chad Gable has been compared to Kurt Angle as a former Olympian turned pro wrestler ever since he signed with the company.
Some people even see a similarity in appearance and said back when Jason Jordan was announced as Kurt's illegitimate son that it should've been Gable instead.
The King of the Ring tournament is the latest thing to draw comparisons on, since Kurt's rise to fame included winning the tournament back in 2000. Some people are now expecting that Chad could end up winning and this go on to receive a big push from then on out.
But it doesn't even end here. Another thing around KOTR that Kurt is well known for is his memorable match against Shane McMahon in 2001. Apart from that match, Kurt wrestled 2 more on the same PPV and they were part of that year's tournament.
Now Chad also scored a win against Shane around KOTR, in his case, when Shane replaced the injured Elias. While not part of the original plan, is there a possibility that they did this on purpose? If they mention the 'coincidence' next week, then it is. If not, it may just be destiny.
Whatever happens from here on out, Chad will have big shoes to fill, especially if he ends up winning the tournament. There is a buzz around him and the live crowds are actually reacting for him. He's got a good chance of getting a breakout push out of this.
