Strong TV deal, for what they state is a multi-year agreement. That’s half the battle IMO. If it does even half decent ratings it will be considered a success.

NFLPA won't allow players to play in AAF nor likely the XFL and without it there is no talent. It's really bad football.

Non-drafted College players who give up on the pro dream quickly fall out of playing shape meaning there isn't many off the street players. If you are a UDFA after not going in the NFL draft would you sign on with a team for a camp invite/tryout or instead sign on to play in the XFL?

53 man rosters plus 10 man practice squad (which pays more than XFL), then you have injuries - NFL takes 2200 best professional football players already. QB play in the NFL is damn thin as it is - bad QB play is the killer for AAF and will be for the XFL.

Football isn't even that hot right now so I'm pretty skeptical. But, getting on major networks is a big part of being successful.

This attachment shows the average viewership, % changes in viewership year-to-year, and other factors that clearly indicate American Football has a huge market of fans. 30 million viewers for a Dallas Cowboys game and an average of 15 million viewers per game? What other anything on TV gets that many viewers? Not one. I don’t know where you’re coming up with “football isn’t even that hot.” Just because trump bashes the NFL you believe it’s in the shit hole or what? You’d sure be a great businessman!

I'll give it a chance, I know that it is ingrained in WWE fan's every being to want everything that Vince touches to fail to teach him a lesson for treating us so bad for a decade. But I'm going to try to view the XFL with a more positive attitude and see what happens. Honestly it is going to be tough for me cause I'm losing interest in the NFL and football as it is, so I'm not sure how much interest I have left over for another league.

Where did I ever bring up the President? What the actual fuck?

I'm going to ignore that, because there IS data to back up what I'm talking about. Viewership isn't the only metric of success; the lasting popularity of a sport has a lot to do with young people playing it, and youth participation in football is on a SHARP decline. I personally know a lot of young parents that are very leery about getting their kids into football, and are much more prone to push them into baseball, basketball, or soccer.

Links below. Maybe do some research before you come at me with baseless political snark.

I feel like only the NFL could launch a successful spring league.

They're the only ones with the power to make it interesting by branding a developmental league.

XFL's biggest problem is that jocks think the WWE is a joke and if I were into sports betting, I wouldn't be convinced that the XFL isn't Sports Entertainment
I guess Vince just needs to market this as far away from WWE as possible.

I want the XFL succeed so he can devote all his energies to it and just let someone else book the WWE

If they let the players hit and call a catch a catch, it’ll automatically be more entertaining than the pussified version of the NFL we have today.

If Vince really wants to make a splash with XFL he should offer Trevor Lawrence $10-15 million to play one year instead of his junior year

I'm from a country where american football means zero, nothing of popularity as sport... But even I wish succeed to Vince in this new venture, because he did much for many former players of that sport and because he's trying to bring more entertainment to the world.

You're right, my first instinct is to want it to fail and for Vince to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, but if it's a success maybe it'll keep him away from WWE. I won't be watching a single game of the Xenophobic Football League but I hope it lasts at least until Vince kicks the bucket.

Want it to fail because it's a stupid entity run by a demented old man....

Want it to succeed so demented old man can't focus on WWE...

I'm going to have to meditate on this one.

I hope it goes good, because I actually would love more football. I can't get enough of it. I was enjoying the AAF every week and was sad it folded. So this better give me what I want!

Nice. I'm looking forward to finally being able to see my first XFL game next year. Was too young the first time and only got highlight from weekly WWF Superstars. Looks like the league is coming along nicely. Hoping V2 it is more successful than the it was in 2001.
