WWE TLC last December garnered the lowest number of pay-per-view buys in WWE history with 39,000 buys. The lowest number before TLC was last September's WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view, which garnered 48,000 buys. WWE TLC was headlined by Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt in a TLC match and John Cena vs. Seth Rollins in a tables match.

It should be noted that TLC took place in December, after WWE ran it's free month for the WWE Network last November. WWE Network subscriptions rose 12% last quarter, with WWE reaching 816,000 subscribers at the end of 2014 so it's not surprising that fewer people order the event on pay-per-view.

WWE Survivor Series, which took place last November during the month of the free WWE Network promotion, is at 100,000 buys.

Last October's WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, which was headlined by Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins and John Cena vs. Randy Orton - with both matches taking place in the Hell In A Cell - garnered 83,000 buys.

How is this bad news? Every week the announcing team calls anyone who buys PPVs instead of the network an idiot. This is what they want.

Wouldn't surprise me if they did. Even though Wyatt and Ambrose wasn't promoted as the top feud going into TLC, Cena-Rollins was.

What kind of dumb bastard is still buying ppvs with the Network anyway? Aside from those who can't get the Network obviously and I'm assuming bars etc.

PPV buy #s mean ZERO now, the WWE is completely now reliant on their Network and TV deals.

While the Network is a factor here, just remember that Ambrose vs. Wyatt and Rollins vs. Cena were two match ups that were basically spammed for three months straight by WWE. PPV, TV, whatever, these guys all wrestled each other WAY too often. There was literally nothing interesting about either match up by December.

A million people don't have the network though. 1 million people have signed up to the WWE network including the free month giveaway but not including cancellations.

They are using the total number of network subscribers in that figure. 1 million people are not paying WWE 9.99 a month right now.

Somewhere in the region of 700,000 people are according to the breakdowns of the reports.

1 Million paid subs on January 27th 2015 with 1.4 million total having signed up since the beginning which would include cancellations and re-regs with different name/card details

Because PPV has far deeper market penetration than high-speed broadband.

If you aren't rolling >= 25mbps, its pointless to try to watch a WWE PPV Event Live via the WWE Network.
I live in rural west of Ireland with about 6-8 mbps download speed and WWE network works flawlessly on the Roku 3

oh so the ppv that no one cared about because it was the culmination of two dumbshit feuds that never should have happened (rollins-cena wyatt-ambrose), two feuds that were created by short-circuiting the feud people wanted (rollins-ambrose) got a low buyrate?

SO SURPRISING

not
