WWE talent frustrated with Def Rebel’s entrance themes

Don't understand why talent doesn't have full say or control over their OWN entrance theme.
If they had full say and control, it would be contractual, and then everybody on the roster would force WWE to pay for licensed music like Punk has. They'd be costing WWE millions of dollars on entrance music and WWE doesn't want to deal with that. For better or worse, usually worse, they want control.

Also, just as a general rule, and this is not a defense of Def Rebel but wrestlers have proven over and over again that giving them creative control is not a good idea. Musically speaking, exclusively, you'd inevitably end up with a bunch of songs that don't even remotely fit the person in question, just because the talent likes it.

Understandable.

Someone like Finn Balor deserves a MUCH better theme.

I was super annoyed for Balor having to come out to that generic sound of mediocrity in the rumble.

Def Rebel is synonymous for producing sound instead of actual music.

I hope this means AJ is going to keep his old song and not go back to that other shit they gave him.
This was probably one of the best moments of the Men's Rumble match for me personally.

An awesome entrance theme makes its big return for the Phenomenal after it was scrapped for nearly 10 months

There seems to be nothing more universal with all fans than how a lot of the new themes are just garbage. A lot of them are so unbelievably generic slop that during the Rumble so many people had to keep looking at the ramp to see who was coming out.

I just don’t get it. Hunter knows how much an entrance matters more than anybody given how many big entrances he had during his career, and he even made an emphasis on that for so many guys during Black and Gold NXT like Balor, Asuka, Roode, and so many others. He’ll look at Jey Uso right now.

It makes no sense for him to have a signed music act that makes themes which do nothing to help the wrestlers they are given to.

There's no way any member of creative, and Triple H in particular, is not aware of how shitty Def Rebel are.

The only explanation that makes sense is that the corporate side of WWE wants to cut corners and Def Rebel are, like, the Scott Buck* of music. There's just no way keeping them is a creative decision.

* Notoriously terrible TV writer Scott Buck managed to keep getting showrunner roles even though everything he does is a huge flop or gets overwhelmindly negative reactions because he delivers on time and under budget.

I feel like some higher ups in WWE play a double game here.

I think they want Def Rebel to have lame songs in order "for the entrance to not get more over than the wrestler". That's what I had read some time ago.

But then you have guys like Rollins and Jey having an amazing entrance that helps them.

Everyone needs an amazing entrance.

What's with this shit?

There are literally MILLIONS of musicians out there who can replace Def Rebel.

Some of the Def Rebel entrance themes are good or okay (like Asukas. Joe Gacys was pretty good also, as well as Nakamuras new "Crimson Moon" theme, among others) but then others are not. That new one for Finn Balor I have no clue how it even fits Finn. Assuming it's by Def Rebel also. His previous one that was basically a remix by Def Rebel of an even older theme was much better than this new theme and they should have stuck with that for the Royal Rumble. Horrible decision to debut a new theme at an event where they should want fans to recognize wrestlers by their music. Don't fix what isn't broken.

I actually didn't mind AJs new theme but the older one that he went back to is better.

Actually its simple : If you take away Jey Uso ‘s entrence you have - Jimmy Uso ,…. says it al ,.. = entrance is important as F ,… Def stuff makes more bad than good songs,…. imagine your a good talented hard working wrestler and you get a crappy song , then Jey gets his song and wins the RR to go to Mania ,.. if you read “ talent complains bout their entrance “ You read Talens says Jey Uso Sucks and is over as F cuz o his entrance “

Music in wrestling peaked in the 80s and 90s when you had Jim Johnston, Jimmy Hart, and other people within the wrestling bubble producing the majority of the music instead of random indy bands. Hell, the most iconic theme song of the last 20 years is probably John Cena's "My Time is Now" [Whether you love it or hate it] and it's something he produced lol.

No shit, Def Rebel sucks just like CFO$ did before them. It all sounds like the most generic copyright free music and adds nothing to the presentation of the talent.
It's crazy how one guy created the most legendary theme songs, meanwhile these groups could not even create gas after a bean dinner.

Def RebeL is awful. But they cooked with LA Knight's theme. It suits him perfectly. Every now and then they'll have a hit, but it's not often enough. They're not talented enough musicians to look at a talent and then mould the perfect song around their persona and character
