Smackdown kicks off with Greg Hamilton announcing the opening contest for Smackdown.

Match One: Ali vs. Buddy Murphy
Buddy Murphy finally makes his Smackdown Live debut following the Superstar Shake-up and puts on a phenomenal opening match against Ali. Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton are behind the broadcast booth calling the action as Buddy Murphy and Ali lock up in the ring. Both men go all out in the opening match, with lots of high risk offense, many pinning attempts and counters. Murphy drops Ali with a Powerbomb onto the ring canvas and covers him for a near fall. Ali fights back and hits a crossbody on the outside of the ring. In the end, Ali hits the 054 on Murphy and covers him for the 1...2...3.
Winner: Ali @ 4:59 ***

Ali picks up the first victory of the new Smackdown Live tonight on USA as Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton welcomes everyone watching at home. His celebration however is short lived as Shane McMahon, Elias, and Drew McIntyre make their way down to the ring. The trio force Ali to leave the ring, then beat Murphy down before kicking him out of the ring. Greg Hamilton is forced to do the “Best in the World” introduction for Shane-O-Mac who then addresses the WWE Universe.

McMahon talks about the loss at Extreme Rules, and how he was at an unfair advantage at the hands of Undertaker and Roman Reigns. McMahon claims that he wasn’t feeling well, but even the best has a slip up every now and then. Smackdown is his show and he’s the person who controls everything. He thinks its stupid to have Buddy Murphy show up as he has no place on Smackdown Live. Shane McMahon says that as long as he’s on Smackdown he calls the shots.

“I’m Back” plays and the place erupts as Eric Bischoff emerges from the entrance ramp. Bischoff bows down to the fans before strutting down to the ring. Bischoff gets on the microphone and addresses Shane McMahon’s claim, stating that he’s now running Smackdown Live. Bischoff continues to discuss how Vince McMahon personally contacted him to come in and steer the ship because for months now the powers that be can’t figure out how to do sports entertainment. Shane asks Bischoff what makes him think he can do a better job and Bischoff reminds Shane that for 83 weeks WCW kicked the crap out of WWE and revolutionized the industry. Bischoff admits that in the end WWE won the war, but without WCW changing the landscape WWE would not be the global leader it is today. Bischoff says that he’s heard what the people want, and he’s heard what the wrestlers want. Bischoff states that he’s here to make Smackdown the number 1 sports entertainment show on television. Bischoff says that he’s listening to the people and nobody wants to see Shane McMahon every week on RAW and Smackdown. Bischoff also understands that you can’t have superstars going rogue which is what Kevin Owens has been doing. That’s why right here tonight we are going to have Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens in a loser leaves Smackdown Match! (fans cheer). Bischoff also addresses Elias and Drew McIntyre and states the Elias’ involvement in the tag match on Sunday was out of line. But that being said, it means that we need to see some redemption. Bischoff has reached out to the Undertaker and tonight in the main event, it’s going to be Roman Reigns and the Undertaker teaming up against Drew McIntyre and Elias. (fans chant “Thank you Eric”). Eric finishes by telling Shane that Smackdown is his show and the rules are changing. He wishes them luck tonight in their respective matches, and leaves the ring.

Match Two: Fatal Four-way Match - Rusev vs. Finn Balor vs. Andrade vs. Chad Gable
A huge fatal-four way match finds some of the top wrestlers on Smackdown battling it out. Gable puts on a great showing against Balor, Andrade, and Rusev. The match itself sees many high spots, double teams from Finn and Gable on Andrade and Rusev, and several pinning attempts that are interrupted by another superstar. Balor turns things around and starts to build some offense against his three opponents. Balor dives over the top rope and lands on all three men outside the ring. Andrade is rolled into the ring while Rusev and Gable lay on the ground outside the ring. Finn goes up to the top rope for the Coupe De Grace when the lights go off in the arena. When they come back on the Fiend was on the top rope with Balor and drops him with a superplex from the top rope. The lights go back off momentarily. When they are back on Andrade is laying on top of Balor. The referee counts 1...2...3.
Winner: Andrade via pinfall @ 6:40 ** ½

Andrade is confused about his victory as his hand is raised, but Zelina Vega gets in and celebrates with him. Andrade poses for the crowd, but turns around to find Rusev behind him. Rusev nearly kicks Andrade’s head off then poses. Zelina smack talks Rusev who pushes past her on the way out of the ring.

Backstage: Charlotte Flair is backstage at Smackdown Live. She talks about coming back to Smackdown after her hiatus, and has one mission in mind. She wants her Women’s Championship back and will do anything to get it. Bayley has taken that belt and tarnished its legacy over the last couple of months. Charlotte continues to explain that there is only one person who truly represents the Women of Smackdown Live! Charlotte is interrupted by Ember Moon. She tells Charlotte that she is tired of being overlooked week in and week out on Smackdown. It’s time for her to get a shot at Bayley for the Women’s Championship. Charlotte tells Ember that nobody deserves the belt more than her and the two start brawling backstage. Security break the women up.

The New Daniel Bryan comes out to the ring with Rowan behind him. The WWE Universe listen as he talks about the challenges he faced as the Smackdown Tag Team Champion. He realized that his mission for making a better Universe has been put on the sidelines for the last several months. He admits to not being focused. Bryan pledges that all that is to change tonight and that he is dedicated more now than ever before to make the WWE Universe a safer and more environmentally friendly place to be. Daniel Bryan promises to recapture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again, and will reclaim the planet’s tag team gold. He says that he’s not alone though and announces that Rowan needs a real person to help him in his quest. Daniel apologizes to Rowan for letting him down at Extreme Rules. Rowan deserves better and right here tonight Daniel promises that the Planeteers will have a new member added. They turn to the entrance ramp and Luke Harper returns, complete with plaid shirt like Rowan and Bryan. The fans are thrilled to see Harper and Rowan reunite on Smackdown. Daniel Bryan welcomes Harper to the Planeteers and promises that together they will reclaim their championships and bring a better WWE to the universe.

The Planeteers are interrupted by Epico and Primo Colon who come down to the ring. Daniel Bryan is confused by their interruptions and comments on how they haven’t been on Smackdown in a long time, questioning whether they are actually still employed by WWE. Epico cuts a promo about how uncool Daniel Bryan and his band of misfits really are. Bryan takes exception to that and tells the Colons that they are going to silence them. The Planeteers jump the Colons, but the Colons hold their own against the Planeeters, double clotheslining Daniel over the top rope then dropkicks Harper and Rowan. The Planeteers escape to the back.

Backstage: Shinsuke Nakamura is interviewed following his impressive Intercontinental Title victory last Sunday at Extreme Rules. He is happy to be the new Intercontinental Champion and promises to destroy everyone who stands in his way. Finn Balor was useless as the champion, and Sinsuke intends on proving why he’s considered the best. Shelton Benjamin approaches Shinsuke and stares him down before smiling. Benjamin walks away, leaving Nakamura confused.

Match Three: Women’s Tag Team Championships - The Iconics © vs. The Kabuki Warriors w. Paige
Asuka and Kairi Sane along with Paige make short work of the Tag Team Champions Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. The Champions aren’t able to defend themselves and the match is over with an Asuka Lock within minutes.
Winners: Asuka and Kairi Sane via Submission @ 3:19 *¼

The Women’s Tag Team Champions rejoice in the ring with a quick, but huge victory over the Iconics. Sane and Asuka are handed the belts and pose for the audience. Their victory is short-lived when they are attacked from behind by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. The duo throws Asuka out of the ring and double team Sane in the corner. The Iconics get back in the ring and brawl with Rose and Deville. All six women battle it out soon with the Tag Champs getting the better of both teams. Paige tells the two teams to figure out who has more guts to take on the new champions next week on Smackdown.

Backstage: Eric Bischoff is doing an interview talking about his new role in the company. Bischoff says that it is great to be back, but he is focused on one thing and that’s making Smackdown Live the show to watch every week. Bischoff says that for far too long Smackdown has been the ugly step sibling to RAW, but as what we have seen tonight and how we are going to continue moving forward, the WWE Universe is going to see Smackdown thrive and emerge as the top brand for WWE. Eric says that everything that looks like Smackdown is copying RAW is going to change, from titles, to commentary, and even Superstars. Bischoff promises that from this point forward Smackdown will not participate in the Wild Card Rule. The talent on Smackdown will appear on Smackdown only and not their competitor. That’s a message he’s going to personally deliver to Paul Heyman at the “RAW Reunion.”

Match Four: Loser Leaves Smackdown Match - Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens
KO decimates the Best In the World in the early moments of the match. McMahon gets the holy hell beat out of him as Owens gets a huge reaction from the crowd. McMahon fights back with a low blow then starts jabbing Owen with rights and lefts. McMahon and Owens brawl outside the ring and Shane puts Owens against the ringsteps. Shane rolls KO into the ring and dives off the top rope with a shooting star press. KO kicks out of a pin and starts to build some momentum. Charles Robinson is knocked down inadvertently and Owens hits the Stunner on Shane. KO goes for the pin, but there is no referee to count. Dolph Ziggler gets in the ring and and nails KO with the Superkick. He puts Shane on top of Owens and is about the leave the ring when he is nailed with a Helluva kick from Sami Zayn. Zayn helps his friend KO get back to his feet and heads back outside the ring to brawl with Dolph. Kevin hits another Stunner on Shane and covers him with the 1...2...3.
Winner: Kevin Owens via pinfall @ 7:10 **¾

Kevin Owens celebrates his victory with Sami Zayn before leading the fans in the rousing rendition of the “Goodbye Song” for Shane McMahon as he is escorted out of the arena.

Backstage: The New Day are shown coming down to the ring for their upcoming segment.

In-Ring Segment: Eric Bischoff stands in the middle of the ring with three display cases in the ring, all covered up. The New Day come down to the ring and Bischoff congratulates them on their great achievement at Extreme Rules. Bischoff states that Smackdown needs to be different than RAW. One of his biggest issues he has is that the WWE Titles all look the same on both shows. That’s why as of tonight things are going to change. Bischoff reveals the new WWE World Tag Team Championship Titles and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title.

Bischoff presents the belts to the New Day who pose with the belts. Bischoff then goes on to say that there is some serious competition coming for them, and announces two huge matches for next week to determine who will be going to Summerslam to face the champions. Eric won’t announce al the participants, but makes it clear that it will be their toughest competition to date. Bischoff’s music plays and he leaves the ring.

Backstage: Roman and The Undertaker are shown getting ready backstage for their main event match tonight on Smackdown Live. It’s going to be huge!

Match Five: Undertaker and Roman Reigns vs. Elias and Drew McIntyre
A huge tag team match to finish off the Smackdown on the road to Summerslam finds the Graveyard Dogs going up against Elias and McIntyre. Elias jumps Reigns and the heels dominate the big dog, isolating him from the deadman. Quick tags keep both Drew and Elias fresh as Roman is left helpless in the ring. A spear out of nowhere turns the match around as Roman and Drew are left lying on the ground. They both crawl to their corners and tag the fresh men in. Undertaker unleashes his fists on Elias then boots him out of the ring. Taker continues to dominate Drew then goes for the Last Ride, but Elias takes Taker’s knees out. The Big Dog gets back in the ring and nails Elias with a Superman Punch, but soon McIntyre kicks Roman’s head nearly off his body. The heels attack Undertaker and back him into the corner. Elias hits the Drift Away on Undertaker and pins him for a very near fall when aker kicks out and sits back up. Taker chokeslams Elias and turns to find Drew going for the Claymore kick when Taker counters and hits him with the tombstone. Undertaker covers Drew for the 1...2...3.
Winners: Undertaker and Roman Reigns via pinfall @ 8:01 ***

Following the match, the heels jump the Undertaker again when Roman gets in and takes them out, saving the Deadman in the process. They stand tall in the ring and pose for the crowd as the WWE Universe Cheer. The Big Dog turns around to find the Undertaker chokeslam him out of nowhere. The WWE Universe is in shock as Taker takes Roman out. The Undertaker viciously assaults Roman in and out the ring, throwing him into ring posts, guard rails and then chokeslamming him into through the announce table.
