Pros- Advertising $, taking the company public ( stock market $$$), younger target audience ( more future fans)

Cons- horrible writers that cannot connect with key demographics

WWE was gonna lose many of its fans anyways(the ones who only started watching in attitude era, cause wrestling was "cool).

So WWE sorta sped up the process, and thought about their future. Switching to PG, WWE knows that they'd lose some of their older fans(but like I said,it'd be most of the fans who'd leave eventually anyway, once guys like Taker,HBK,Jericho all retired), but they'd also replace those fans with younger fans who'd continue to watch WWE.

Ask most people, when did they first start watching wrestling, many would start talking about watching it when they were a kid. That's what WWE is doing now too. If you watch something(such as sports) as a kid, chances are, you'll be less likely to grow out of it, then if you were to start watching when you get older.

The population also has more people 0-18 than 18-40, so it's a bigger target audience by targeting kids.

The only bad thing I see about WWE being PG is the content itself. Not cause PG restricts stuff, but cause WWEs PG restricts stuff. There's so many things WWE can do that IS allowed on PG, but they don't really do it(on recaps, they show blood in black in white. I understand WWE not wanting to have blood anymore for safety reasons, but blood IS allowed to be shown on PG)

You can be PG-DLSV, WWE is only PG-V. Meaning there is DLS that can also be added to their PG rating(if you don't know what PG-DLSV is,look it up)

Mostly it was meant to swerve the WWE away from teh minefield of the Benoit Incident, though being so close to the Senate run didn't help matters.

Right now it's stuck in PG because they see easy money in kids, not realising the next minefield for the business is the same one that almost killed them in the mid nineties. It's astounding and almost laughable that they are pulling the same crap they did in the New Generation era with the same consequences but see it as a success now...

Its took the stigma of it being a trash tv product for male adults to being a 'fun family orientated show' insert Cena cheesy smile photo.

Advertisers and a more positive image to the general public after Benoit. Problem is, the product is in arguably its sorriest state since becoming mainstream(though not because of the actual rating; check out dxbender's post).

PG SUXXX ATTUITIDE ERA 4 LYF!!!!

Despite the fact WWE has been P.G for the vast majority of its existence.

WWE was still TV 14 between 2003-to when it wen't PG. It was still shit then. People massively overplay how much of an influence changing the rating made.

Pg rating really Isn't the problem. It was pg before yet they pushed the boundries and produced compelling televsion, hell WWE could be 'rated r', it would still be trash tv as the current creative team is out of touch with what the fans want!

The product simply needs Compelling storylines and characters that we the fans can emotionally connect which can all be done with a tv pg rating.
