On the 6th of January, the 4th annual Mashable Awards took place in New York. They honor advancements and contributions in the web and and related technology. More than 1.3 million votes and nominations were received, out of which WWE performed rather well.

The 'Stand Up for WWE' campaign won the award in the Most Creative Social Media Campaign category, beating the Old Spice Guy, WTFLungCancer, Live Off Groupon, and Zoltaroo.

John Cena won the award in the Yahoo! Most Influential Good Champion category, beating UnCultured, Hardly Normal, Chris Hughes and charitybuzz.

^That's the thing, the fans might have hated it, but WWE never really wanted this to be designed for their fans.

It was just WWE trying to get the medias attention by doing this on their own shows and it seemed to work.

While the WWE fans know that certain things being said about WWE aren't true, most of the media didn't know that, so WWE was just making their non fans aware of this and it seemed to work.
