I know many might feel different about this, but currently I feel the WWE is doing perfect with how they are handing Morrison. The casual fans as well the IWC are just begging for him to reach that next level. The WWE understands this and is capitalizing. For months, Morrison has been on the cusp of greatness, on the cusp of a world title win.

Do you see any similarities with a very popular star, who was also on the verge of main event status, a few years ago? If you still don’t get who I’m talking about, you must be out of it; because I’m referring to no other than Jeff Hardy. Now the comparison becomes very clear. Morrison is in the same position that Hardy was back in 2008, a lovable superstar who always got close to winning the big one, but consistently failed.

However, this is where the comparison ends, Hardy went on to finally win the world title in December of the same year. Morrison is still yet to achieve that feat. But it is clear that the WWE is trying to recreate what they did with Hardy for Morrison. To make his first world title win more emotional. To make his first world title reign stand out amongst the plethora of newly crowned world champions. So all I ask is to be patient.

I love it to, it would be amazing if he beats the Miz for the WWE title, imagine the Miz retaining against John Cena at WRESTLEMANIA then a month or two losing the belt to Morrison. It would put Morrison over so much, and it would have a great story because of their history. I just hope he wins the 2012 Rumble and wins the big one at WM.

The difference between Morrison and Jeff is that Jeff was over enough to warrant being in the main event, Morrison isn't and he never will be if he's not at that point by now. Casuals aren't "begging" for Morrison to win the belt at all. The only midcard face they're heavily invested in is Kofi Kingston. He's not on the cusp of the main event, he's just a guy who wanders around the card with no direction. He goes up, he goes down, he goes up, he goes down, he goes up, he goes down. There's no progression. Turns out, those wins he got over Sheamus weren't even done to help him, they were done to get Sheamus down to US title level for a while. He's on a fast road to nowhere, which will be even more apparant when Dolph Ziggler wins the Raw MITB in July instead of him.

Well, it looked like he was headed for one for a while, but WWE shot him right back down again which they ALWAYS do with Morrison. He's never able to keep a push, he never keeps going up and up and up, he always goes up, down, up, down, up, down. There's never any consistency in his booking. Besides, WWE is not keen on trusting new faces. Every world title/main event push they've given to a guy who's never been world champion before since late 2009 has been heel. It's like they don't trust new faces and just want these new world champions to have to go through Cena/Orton/HHH/Taker/Edge/Rey as heels.

At some point in time they have to create a face. They can't forever run with Cena and Orton.HHH will be probably gone this year and Edge doesn't have too many years left.Same's the case with Rey.They need new faces. So they have no choice but to elevate Morrison to the main event scene.

Agree with the OP. Fans of Morrison do just need to keep patient and from the looks of it, the WWE are giving him a Jeff Hardy like push to the top. He's involved in big matches, he does the big spots to get the fanns behind him (which they are) but fails to win the big match to finally win the title.

I think they might give him a Jeff Hardy like push on Smackdown this year. He'll compete in title matches but fail to win every single time, the fans get more and more behind him and he eventually win the SD MITB at the PPV, he then cashes in (match style) at Summerslam in his home town and finally win the big one from either a big face like Edge/Mysterio, or a big heel like Punk/Del Rio etc. I know people keep saying it every year, but I think he'll get there this year on Smackdown. The fans have gotten behind him, he plays a good face and puts on fantastic matches (something more positive on Smackdown) so I think he'll get it, people just need to give it time.

Am I the only person left in the IWC who doesn't want to see Morrison make it? He can do some neat flips, but it doesn't make up for the fact that he can be fairly botchy and has less personality than the average garden cabbage.

I love how certain fans just beg for actual ‘wrestlers’ to get pushed, but when that happens the very same fans start complaining about some other ‘flaw’. Now every wrestler can’t be a perfect replica of Shawn Michaels or CM Punk. Some are average on the mic gold in the ring, some the opposite- deal with it.

That's probably why they went out of their way to sign Mistico on a top star salary. He's gonna be the next guy, but he's already proven which WWE seems to want in faces these days. They don't HAVE to elevate Morrison at all. When the time comes, they'll just turn Sheamus, Miz, whoever else is heel at the time that they want to change face.

I absolutely don't want him to make it, it would be a travesty.

no you are not the only one. They're trying to get him over based on his good moves, but that's basically making him a spot monkey. I don't want a spot monkey in the main event.

No your not. When I was younger I could enjoy wrestling just based on the wrestling itself. But as age has crept in I can't seem to like a wrestler unless he has good mic skills and an entertaining personality. Two traits Morrison just doesn't have.

So basically WWE teach kids to be a bad guy to win a big one then. If you are a good guy you're just a loser. Only way to win is to be a bad guy first and turn face later and all of them will buy it.

Look a Top face these days like Orton and Edge. They all win the big one first when they're heel (except Cena because he's Cena). I see the next two years the Miz will come out and smiling be happy type of face and be sooo heroic. Hope you like that Miz.

Yeah, that's pretty much how they're playing it...

I don't think it's anything to do with "teaching kids to be bad" or whatever, though. It's just tv and the most interesting characters are always the bad guys. That's partly why Joker was the star of TDK and not Batman.

Thanks for confirming that, guys. It seems like everyone I know went from deriding Morrison to lauding him just because of his spotty "!parkour" shtick. I'm glad I'm not the only one in the 'spot monkeys ≠ great champs or great wrestlers necessarily' camp.

I can see him having a decent secondary-level belt feud with a mat wrestler in a sort of styles clash, but that's as far as I'm willing to see him rise.
