- WWE issued a new Fan Council Survey on Tuesday to get feedback on the Royal Rumble. The most interesting part about the survey was WWE gauging interest on AJ Styles and his debut. WWE asked fans how familiar they are with Styles and how interested they are in seeing him face various WWE Superstars.

Who do you want to see AJ Styles face in WWE the most?

John Cena
Seth Rollins
Triple H
Roman Reigns
Dean Ambrose
Kevin Owens
Brock Lesnar
The Undertaker
Curious to see what the results of this survey would be. Styles received almost zero reaction on RAW during his entrance.

Styles got very audible chants in the opening of RAW too, though.

Not everyone will know him either. The RR crowd was pretty smarky and hardcore, so the vast majority were aware who AJ Styles was. Once he's fully introduced and bedded in he should be fine.

That crowd didn't really pop for a whole lot and once his match started AJ was over with that crowd, they were behind him during the match, wouldn't look too far into it.

Lol, yeah the chant during the opening segment, the chants throughout the match were zero reaction. Also the pop for the win and Jericho handshake tease.

 Get out.

As for that poll...

Just watched this back again to gain an objective perspective.

Aj's initial pop was louder than Jericho's, barely. But still louder.

He then got a sustained cheer during his entrance. It wasn't very loud, but it was a sustained cheer.

He then got another audible as he stepped through the ropes, and you could hear them clapping.

In the end, the crowd were also really into the match. AJ's "almost tap" spot to the Liontamer really got the crowd invested. And he got several "AJ Styles" chants. The reaction when he won was brilliant, considering he was facing Y2J. Yes, he was introduced as a babyface, but still.

The handshake spot also did wonders for him, will only help improve those reactions come next Monday.

I'm struggling to see what the issue is here.

Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles in a Ladder Match for the WWE Title. Tyvm.

I do want to see... AJ Styles vs Finn Balor vs Shinsuke Nakamura too... for... old times sake. Like... it can be AJ vs Balor then AJ vs Nakamura or a triple threat, I just want to see it all.

What are you talking about? Aj was one of the more over guys on raw. Steph mentioned tons of names in her heel promo. Oh they thought Brock was going to win. Then she mentioned Aj and he was the only one who got chants. Plus he got very loud chants against y2j

A dreammatch of mine is Aj vs Rollins. Holy shit. Cena is another one. Face of tna vs face of wwe.

Wow that's a surprise outcome, never expected HHH to lead the WWE.com polls :surprise:

Then again AJ vs HHH for Hunter's first title match would be interesting especially if HHH did a similar promo style as when he accepted Shelton's challenge by saying he could beat him anytime and was that confident he'd put the Title up too. Course HHH loses but disputes it and restarts the match only to win.
This would get AJ over real fast with new fans.

Considering a big chunk of fans won't have ever watched TNA, ROH or New Japan (especially outside of wrestling hotbed areas...and Orlando) I think the reactions are spot on. Those who didn't know who he was or were only loosely familiar with his name are clearly being told that he's a big deal and that's pleasantly surprised me with WWE. They've come a long way since 2010 where Michael Cole freaked out because Josh Matthews referenced Daniel Bryan as a world class veteran - now they're actually trying to make money with these guys rather than sabotage their own signings.

People are extremely fickle when it comes to names and brands they're unfamiliar with - we're really, really stupid. A close friend of mine saw Rob Van Dam in a wrestling game back in 2003 and said he must be some no-name, he actually called him the most generic wrestler he'd seen...this of the most unorthodox guy on the roster at the time. They could have ran into that "Who's this nobody?" idiocy with AJ but instead they've wisely spun it as "If you don't know him, welcome aboard the hype train".

Kevin Owens had the all time best approach to this with his debut RAW promo saying something to the tune of "Those of you who don't know me...aren't worth my time." Funnily enough, I was one of those fools who dismissed Owens at first sight about ten years ago - people need time to learn who guys are, that's all.
