I don't know if this has been posted, but according to http://www.WrestlingInc.com/wi/news/2012/0719/554471/cody-rhodes/

"WWE reportedly had to edit a Cody Rhodes vs. Tyson Kidd match that was taped this week for Superstars. The edits were done because they had to edit out the crowd chanting for Cody Rhodes as a Babyface."

Eh? Thought his match with Kidd was a dark match for Superstars? Didn't he already face Riley during the RAW portion? Is it 2 weeks worth of tapings or something? Anyway, if WWE continue to use Rhodes on Superstars this will just happen more and more. Same thing happened with Ziggler. When he got misused the fans got behind him.

I really don't get why WWE are making the effort to can Rhodes' heat. I could understand if he wasn't getting a reaction but he is, it's just that he's getting cheered.

If it was taped for Superstars it would have been one of the first matches of the night, Rhodes would have probably been the first relatively big star the live crowd would have seen. I've been to a few live shows here in England and the first actual "star" that is seen always seems to get a huge reaction. A lot of people that go to the shows don't know who most of the lower card guys are, I went to a show with my friend a few years ago and he had absolutely no idea who Snitsky was.

I understand why they edited the match, they are trying to get Tyson Kidd over as a popular underdog babyface, it wouldn't fit that the audience was cheering the other guy.

I would understand completely but it's not Smackdown. It's Superstars haha. No one watches that, least of all the casual audience :p Seems like some effort to go through. Either way, what is the situation here? Rhodes taped 2 matches for Superstars. Is it 2 weeks worth of tapings? Is one a dark match (I thought this one was?)? or is he wrestling twice in one programme? (which would be odd tbh)

You are wrong here.

It's not like Rhodes was facing off against some random babyface like Mason Ryan or Ezekiel Jackson. He was fighting Tyson freaking Kidd, the guy who was doing insane spots at the PPV a few days before. Tyson could have easily gotten cheers but the crowd got behind Rhodes.

This is surprising because Tyson Kidd isn't usually that bad of a babyface. Rhodes usually gets heat (and he got a lot of legitimate heat with his recent feud with Christian), so it doesn't reflect well on Kidd that the crowd wasn't into him.

However, it does highlight the fact that lining up Kidd for a US or IC title shot is a bad decision at this time. He's not fully over and needs a feud with an established heel to get him going. Placing him in midcard title contention right now would only be detrimental to him as the crowd won't care.

WWE: Damn it, we invite a crowd to come watch our events and and they have the nerve to have an opinion.

Got to side with WWE here. I mean, when have they ever encouraged us to have opinions, not counting asking us for our opinions on Twitter, Facebook, WWE.com, FUCKING TOUT, Asking us to cheer based on our opinions at live shows and the likes? Surely it would be better for all of us if we just did exactly as they told us to and didn't bother to put any thought beyond "Cena helps sick children, he has no flaws!"

On the other hand, maybe their pushing Kidd?

Actually Tyson Kidd is a random babyface. Remember he's only been getting exposure on the regular shows for a few weeks though, and before then he was nothing but a irrelevant jobber. I think they've been trying to build up his crowd support, but the crowd is only going to react so much to guy of Kidd's lower-card status. A guy like Cody Rhodes who's much well known and gets much more exposure, means it's understandable that he gets more cheers, regardless of the face/heel dynamic.

I think the Superstars match was Kidd's push. WWE probably was testing to see if a Rhodes vs. Kidd feud would work. But if Rhodes is getting cheered over him, then I can't see them bringing it to Raw where it can get more exposure.
Maybe, but come on, putting him against Cody is hardly fair, surely WWE know he's very over with certain crowds. Put him against Swagger (which they did, he was cheered) or Slater and they'd see that he's quite over.

I'm not sure I agree with this.

How about people like Alex Riley, Justin Gabriel and Ezekiel Jackson, all of these guys went from nobodies to being pretty well over for midcarders. They were all in a similar position as Tyson but managed to get over before being placed in a high caliber ppv match

The problem with Kidd is he's been a nobody ever since the Hart Dynasty broke up, which was years ago, so it's hard to build him up (if WWE actually want to do that). I believe Kidd was ONLY put into the MITB match because they needed spots to fill and they also needed a guy to do the high spots (they have one every year). So now I think he'll revert back to his jobber status. Aside from his wrestling ability, he has no other qualities just justify a push and his credibility has been destroyed from years of jobbing.

I'd have no problem with them editing the crowd noises if they didn't sound so fake.

It may have just been a really smarky crowd. At last years SS, he was probably the most over guy in the SS match, even with the face team containing Orton, Kofi and Sheamus who are usually really over.

Too bad his last name isn't Hart since Orton got buy with having a last name and no talent at all.

LOL!! That dude ain't over. He was pushed and no one cared (not to mention the fact he didn't have the charisma or ability needed to get over). He pretty much disappeared after losing the IC title to Rhodes.
