WWE has a rich history of "dropping the ball", that is why I was against Del Rio winning the Rumble after being in the WWE for a short time. One minute a superstar may seem like they're going to get a great push, and then for one reason or another they're thrown in the jobber category/tag team. Here's a list of superstars that I've compiled over the years who have fell victim:

Now after 10 years of talent that have come in and out of the WWE, who are the only ones currently in the WWE that have turned out to be big stars? Orton and Cena. That's why they're shoving guys like Del Rio, Ziggler and Sheamus down our throats because Michaels is gone, Batista is gone, Triple H and Taker are going to continue getting injured frequently. Still no Jericho yet.

Kozlov's always been overrated, nobody ever really care about him and Triple H vs Kozlov was boring as heel, zero chemistry, fans on Xanax who is terrible for a PPV main event.

Kane vs Undertaker was the worst match of the year and that didn't stop WWE from giving it to us multiple times.

You can only 'drop the ball' with someone, who actually has talent, but bad booking. For example MVP with his face turn. You can't 'drop the ball' with someone who's failing with a good push. In Kozlovs case he was getting good booking and they thankfully dropped his push due to him being pretty damn terrible. The crowd were completely indifferent, he couldn't talk, he didn't have a good look (imo), and his in ring work was awful. The Survivor Series 08 main event still makes me shudder to think of it...

The guy had a massive undefeated streak, he beat Undertaker clean, got a title match and nobody cares, he didn't do anything actually good throughout his entire push. He's actually performing better right now, as the comedy sidekick to Santino Marella.

There was nothing wrong with his gimmick though. He was a hard faces, angry russian, physical fighter, there was nothing terrible about that. It was him that didn't succeed with the gimmick, they gave him a lot to work with and he didn't do anything with it. The Eugene gimmick was retarded and probably not his fault he didn't work out, Kozlovs was fine and could have worked with someone else. Kozlovs matches were god awful, he didn't ever have a good one.

Kozlov's in a much better place now then he was in 2008. I actually like him with Santino honestly.

His push in 2008 was painful to watch, and the crowd just did not give a shit no matter what they did with him.
