WWE News and Notes:

It has been confirmed that the June PPV, King of the Ring has been scrapped. Instead the KOTR event will be taking place during the fall time during a special 3 Hour Raw event. The event that will be replacing King of the Ring will be "Night of Champions". All of the titles including the ones from ECW, will be defended at the PPV. Also it has been rumored that the ECW brand might be coming to a close sometime in the future. Finally the July PPV, Heatwave, which was scheduled to be an ECW only event, has been changed to a tri-branded event, entitled "Extreme Rules", which every match will have a stipulation or be contested under ECW rules. With that said here are the results for Night of Champions and Extreme Rules.

Night of Champions:

WWE Championship-John Cena(c) defeated Triple H and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match

World Heavyweight Championship-Kurt Angle(c) defeated Bobby Lashley

ECW Championship-Rey Mysterio(c) defeated Jack Swagger

Unified World Tag Team Championships-Beer Money(c) defeated Santino Marella and Vladimir Koslov

ECW World Tag Team Championships-The Big Show and Kane defeats The Dudley Boyz to become the NEW ECW World Tag Team Champions

Intercontinental Championship-Christian(c) defeats The Miz

United States Championship-John Morrison(c) defeats Edge

ECW Cruiserweight Championship-Tajiri defeats Kid Kash(c) to win the Cruiserweight Championship

WWE Women's Championship-Mickie James(c) defeats Gail Kim to retain the Women's Championship

Extreme Rules:

World Heavyweight Championship-Street Fight Rules (Loser Leaves WWE)-Kurt Angle defeats Bobby Lashley to retain the World Heavyweight Championship

ECW Championship-Tables Match-Rey Mysterio defeats Sabu to retain the ECW Championship

WWE Championship-Steel Cage Match-John Cena defeats Triple H to retain the WWE Championship

The Miz defeats Edge in a Last Man Standing Match

Unified World Tag Team Championships-Beer Money defeats LAX in a Falls Count Anywhere Tag Team Match to retain the titles

United States Championship-John Morrison defeats Kofi Kingston in a Ladder Match to retain the United States Championship

Randy Orton defeats Matt Hardy in a Stretcher Match

Sheamus defeats Christian in an "Dublin Brawl" to WIN the Intercontinental Championship.

Now like what I did for WrestleMania, I will be posting the SummerSlam card, with a buildup preview for each match. SummerSlam should be posted in recap form sometime next month.

SummerSlam 2008 Preview
August 25, 2008
Los Angeles, California
Staples Center

WWE Championship-Raw
AJ Styles(challenger) vs. John Cena(champion)

It has been a whirlwind for both competitors in this WWE Championship Match. AJ Styles for the past year has been fighting and crawling for the chance and opportunity to become World Champion. John Cena, has been on a roll for the last year, and has been unstoppable since winning the WWE Championship back in March at WrestleMania XXIV. Now for the first time, these two superstars will meet one on one for the biigest prize in the game, at the "Biggest Party of the Summer!" Can Cena continue his momenumental reign, or will AJ Styles finally realize his dream of becoming WWE Champion?

World Heavyweight Championship-Smackdown
Batista(challenger) vs. Kurt Angle(champion)

This match will see two rivals revive their great though short feud. Batista was the World Heavyweight Champion last year when these two were apart of the Elimination Chamber match at Survivor Series back in November 2007. However it was Kurt Angle who left that match as the NEW WHC. Since then both men have been drafted to Smackdown, and Angle had lost and regained the title. However these two men finally get to face off one on one. Can "The Wrestling Machine" continue to prove why he is the "Best Athelete in Sports-Entertainment" or will "The Animal" once again become the Number 1 Man on Smackdown!

ECW Championship
The Big Show(challenger) vs. Rey Mysterio

ECW Champion, Rey Mysterio, faces his biggest challenge since winning the title back at WrestleMania, both figuratively and literally, as he faces the 7 foot tall The Big Show. Despite outsmarting the challenger recently, Mysterio knows that the odds are not in his favor. Can the Master of the 619 once again prove the doubters wrong, or has the time come for the "Land of Extreme" to be ruled by "The Largest Athlete in the World!"

Unified World Tag Team Championships:
Elijah Burke/Santino Marella(challengers) vs. Beer Money(champions)

It was right here at this event last year, that Beer Money became the WWE Tag Team Champions. And since then at WrestleMania, the team became Unified Tag Team Champions, defeating LAX, in a Unification title match. So in reality, these two men have been champions for the past year. Enter Burke and Marella. These two have teamed up with the purpose of winning the tag team gold, and getting rid of the grip that Beer Money has over the tag team division. Can the odd team defeat the champs, or will it be a case of bad luck for the challengers?

WWE Women's Championship:
Eve(challenger) vs. Mickie James

Eve won a Number 1 Contender's Match on Raw at the end of last month, and since then has been on the recieving end of a lot of verbal and sneak attacks from Mickie James. The brunette beauty, who has been champion since Mania, is known to win at all costs, will have a fight on her hand, as last week on Raw, Eve, showed that she is no pushover and is ready for the fight.

Edge vs. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has a problem with Edge. During a special edition of the "Highlight Reel", Jericho said to Edge that he is sick to his stomach that Edge has become nothing more than a pandering sheep to these fans, as the old Edge wouldn't care nothing about the fans. After a slap to Edge, the two begin to brawl which led to a breakup by officials. The following week during a match, Jericho intentionally got himself DQ, and tried to break the left shoulder of the former WWE Champion. The next week following the Main Event on Raw, Edge surprised Jericho with a spear that sent Jericho to the outside of the ring. Since then these two have been barred of contact outside of a match. However at SummerSlam, these two will finally get their match, and there must be a winner. Can the "Rated R Superstar" get revenge on the man who tried to end his career, or will the first-ever Undisputed WWE Champion, prove once again why he is the Best in the World at what he does?

The Miz vs. The Undertaker

Despite a crushing defeat to Edge a few months back, the momentum for Mr. Money in the Bank, The Miz, has not wavered. So much confidence is in The Miz, that he has made a challenge to the legendary Undertaker. The Deadman answered his challenge for SummerSlam, with a thunderous chokeslam. In the ensuing weeks, The Miz has said that while he was younger and the lights and trickery would scare him then, that was the past and NOW he sees right through it. Miz says that he is Mr. Money in the Bank and deserves respect, and he is going to get even more once he defeats The Undertaker and destroys his legacy!

Intercontinental Championship:
MVP(challenger) vs. Sheamus(champion)

For a while it seemed as if the former WWE Champion was stuck in the middle of the pack, since losing the WWE Championship at Mania, but MVP has found a second chance to prove that he has what it takes to get back into the WWE title hunt. However for now, at SummerSlam he will be challenging the Intercontinental Champion, Sheamus. The young Irish wrestler, who in his rookie year, has been making headlines everywhere, has been dominating even more since winning the Intercontiental Championship last month at Extreme Rules. However can "The Celtic Warrior" prove that last month's title win was a fluke, or is "Mr. 305" here to take the first step back into getting back in the title contention with a IC title win at SummerSlam!

Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy
No Holds Barred Match

In a feud that has been going back and forth for the past year, these two look to finally settle the score once and for all with a NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH AT SUMMERSLAM! There must and will be a winner.
