CM Punk said this in his second shooting promo in 2013 and he said it too in his podcast , superstars are just there for the money they don't care about their characters anymore , they don't have the same fire as their 90's counterparts had , for exemple Dean Ambrose , he was on fire after the shield break up and during his feud with Rollins , i thought for sure the guy gonna be a world champ in 2015 but after the feud ended , he was stuck in the midcard , he has the potentiel to be one of the best heels of all times but he don't care because he's getting paid load of money and just keep pretending to be the kid friendly "crazy" guy , Punk said that Bryan was serious wrestler but he is forced to put a smile on his face and be friendly the kids which hurt his character , i don't know why Wrestlers don't care improving their characters and being in the big league , maybe because they know that those roles are already reserved for the childrens of Ric flair and Rock's cousins ? or is just the PG era ?

"Punk said that Bryan was serious wrestler but he is forced to put a smile on his face and be friendly the kids which hurt his character"

That didn't hurt his character. That HELPED his character. Bryan got over because of his goofy work in "Team Hell No" and Yes chants.

Funny how you mention CM Punk's podcast where the majority of the time all Punk talked about was money.

the time when Punk cut that promo was in the very early part of 2013 when Bryan was stuck in the midcard with Kane .

It can happen with any job, I worked for a company doing graphics design and I'd put alot of effort into making this flyer for example, then I'd take it to the boss for approval and he'd get me to change everything minimum 10 times before he signed off on it, then it was basically how it started to begin with, after a while I showed him shit and let him do it his way, when you lose creative freedom you tend to lose the ability to care.

It's not that they don't care, it's that they CAN'T care. The times when you'd be the one to develop your character and gimmick is over. The times when YOU would cut YOUR promos and say YOUR words are over. Now, everything is micromanaged, every word is scripted, and if you argue and try to change anything you will be buried and taken off TV. If you do, or say, anything that they don't approve beforehand, and if you don't do or say exactly what they told you to do or say, you will be fined and/or fired.

I sometimes think back on how awesome wrestling was in the 80's. Those were the days!

This thread lost all credibility when you decided to mention Punk's name.. Use a better example next time.. I really can't believe people are still discussing this guy.
He has valid opinions, and he has more clout than you. If you replaced CM Punk with Crewz would you want people to not discuss your opinions? Just some food for thought.

There's a balance that has to be met. Most wrestlers are at their best when allowed some leeway with their character. I think giving some of these guys too much say in their character would be harmful since there are those who are complete marks for themselves. I think that's where the problem lies now. Instead of approaching each wrestler on an individual basis the WWE relies on a template and applies it to everyone.

yeah or real characters at least.

in the 80ies wrestlers were still real, wrestling was fake but the wreslters were real. you still had a locker room full of low lifes and crazy people, who only had to exagerate a little bit to be entertaining instead of playing a character. nowadays you have some tame motherfuckers who play characters without even beeing decent actors. Vince did that on purpouse because the tame motherfuckers dont cause as much trouble but lowlifes are more entertaining. its like in rap music, imagine if every rapper would had a college education and would only play roles in their music. the music wouldnt have the same soul as music made by motherfuckers who are acutally from the street

Ambrose himself said he doesn't take wrestling seriously, and if i recall correctly he called us idiots for caring about wins and losses. That's the wrestler you guys want to be pushed: someone who has zero passion for the wrestling business.
Same can be said about Kevin Nash, and I doubt someone would say his run at the top should not have happened because of that.

I think they care.....well most of them minus Kane and Randy Orton. I just think they are frustrated and that leads to a lack of motivation.
Kane obviously does care. He's not out there half-assing it. I think most of the talent cares. If you want to see someone who has checked out watch CM Punk's last few months in the WWE.
