A lot of us came from golden eras in wrestling. The 80s, the early 90s, and then the late 90s, and also the early 00s, and have continued to watch the sport ever since.

I was just wondering, if you were whatever age you started watching today, do you reckon you would still watch?

I used to watch wrestling in the early 90s through old video tapes and magazines, and got into it heavy around 1998 when I was 11. I think if I was 11 now I would probably be a wrestling fan, but not religiously like I was. A big factor was that in the late 90s, as the years progressed and I got a bit older, I liked the fact it was very adult-orientated. It was the same reasons I watched South Park; you almost feel like you're rebelling watching it because of the violence, swearing & T&A. I think I'd still watch now because it's still very popular, but I would have grown out of it very very quickly.

What do you think? Taking into consideration everything involved when you watched in the first place, do you think you'd still be a fan??

Yes i would without a doubt. I still like most of the product currently so i would enjoy it if i saw it for the first time + i would have no idea what had happened in the former eras.

It's hard to say, but probably not. The only reason I watch it now is because I'e been a fan for over 20 years. Its a shame to see how far downhill pro wrestling fell.

There are a few bright spots though. If it wasn't for Danielson, I probably wouldn't watch RAW anymore. Hopefully they decide to give more indy guys a shot. I'm curious to see what they do with Tyler Black.

No. If I was this age in 1998 and first seen it though, I'd have been more inclined to stick around, but even then... wrestling needs to capture your imagination as a kid and keep you throughout adulthood imo. That's why I won't complain about the WWE capturing the next generation during this era - it needs to be done for the business to survive.

Yes. 2010 has been a good year for me and the whole concept of wrestling is very entertaining anyway. I mean, if you had said this in 2007, I would've probably said no but I'm enjoying WWE at the minute more than I have in a good five years or so.

Absolutely not. If I had never gotten into wrestling before, and started watching this year, I heavily doubt I would be on this forum talking about it. Even if I were a kid I would hate it. How do I know that? Well I hated both WWF & WCW in 1995 when both shows were awful & I was 10 years old, so there you go. I love the great parts of the past, and I love what wrestling can be. But WWE & TNA are nowhere near being what they need to be creatively and it sucks.

I always laugh at people who talk about how terrible WWE is today compared to the past. You know what your problem is? You've grown up. You've seen everything wrestling is able to offer.

WWE has never been top quality, intelligent television and WWE has ALWAYS been for kids. Before you jump down my throat and say the Attitude Era wasn't for kids, of course it was. Look how immature it was. It was for teens who thought sex, porn and dick jokes were cool. For the most part, they're still doing now what they've been doing for years, just in a more toned down way.

I don't think so, honestly.

Precisely. If I were seeing wrestling for the first time as a 29-year-old, I can't imagine that it would capture my imagination the way it did when I was 12.

This, pretty much exactly. The past 18 months have have been much much better than the 2 years prior to that. So if I started watching today I would likely keep up on it enough to be able to follow it. No chance in hell though that I would become as big of a fan as I am now with the current product. The events and how the wwf was when I was eight is the reason I am the fan that I am today.

If I switched over and saw the nexus angle i maybe intrigued as to what was happening but apart from that no don't think theirs anything special in the product to gain new fans or myself if I was watching for the first time.

You're totally right. I still wouldn't watch it though. I've been following it for over a decade now so it's hard to completly break away from it. I'm a very loyal person lol.
