Completely ridiculous and guilt by association, even though there isn't much Jay was guilty of since he'd made amends for his mistake over and over.

Mark as a solo act would have a limited ceiling in AEW, but even as a midcarder under a real contract (their ROH deal can't be very lucrative compared to full AEW deals), it'd be job security and a chance to do what he and his brother never did, feature on a proper national TV show.

I don't expect TK to kick up a fuss because of his relationship with WBD, which he's been careful of to the extent that he refused to shop ROH to any non-WBD companies. Clearly expecting/hoping for some kind of improved TV deal next time.

It's rarely mentioned (except by me, it seems), but Scorpio Sky made the same mistake as Jay years ago and I assume everyone is aware of it, yet he not only has been a featured performer for AEW, but held two of their titles. And no mention of WBD being bothered.

It doesn't say what Scorpio actually tweeted... Did he also threaten to murder people like Jay Briscoe did in his homophobic rant?
Nah. It generates discussion just like your boy. Nothing stops you guys from discussing Dave's opinion.

And besides its wrestling. If wrestling was as important as politics then yeah I would. If I see aew fans shooting up wwe while screaming make wrestling flippy again Or something then I would.

Also too little too late wbd fuck you and your token gesture
Dave can report four consecutive wrong stories and morons will still act like he has credibility, then you see these same morons on Twitter calling Xero fake news for going 3/4.

Yes he is biased like fox news or cnn. He also never fact checks like fox or cnn and you still have people lapping it up.

I don't get why you guys complain about rumours from internet journos about wrestling.
Meltzer just keeps losing. It's hilarious.

This genuinely just makes the situation even more sickening. They took this "principled" stance to keep the best tag team in the world off their channel and now that someone's died that principled stance has as well. Shows have vapid and cynical the sentiment was to begin with. Jay deserved better than this shit.

We knew this would happen though. The execs are always covering their backsides from the woke cancel mob.

The only reason Mark is going on TV is because of Jim Cornette. He was begging for the exec's name on his tribute to Jay so he could name names, guaranteed he would have got it and done it. They fucking shit themselves.

I think banning Meltzer as a source would be damn near impossible, since every other site reports what he says as if it were fact.

The same goes for Sapp

You basically would have to ban all threads about news and rumors

All this fuss from WBD, but James Gunn gets to stay as an executive over DC despite dozens of child raping jokes, articles about raping actresses and hosting multiple rapist themed parties.

Search 'James Gunn Party' and get ready to be shocked.

Because he spent four decades building a reputation as THE top journalist in wrestling under completely false pretenses, and every instance of him being exposed as a fraud gets ignored in spite of it happening weekly at this point. This isn't some dude in his mom's basement with a random blog.

Dave Meltzer is definitely living rent free in some of ya'lls minds.

Just saying.

FUCK! I'm suddenly extra glad that I never watched those silly Guardians movies...

I swear it's as if everyone wants to pretend they don't know what Jay wrote that upset everyone... He said he would MURDER anyone that told his kids that same-sex marriage is ok! That's like 3 levels of fucking insanity!! It shows that not only does he have a problem with homosexuality, but he's also willing to threaten (at the very least) to actually kill people who simply teach tolerance and acceptance. And his 'apology' after he was called out on it was that it was his character that said that and not actually the man Jamin, but there's no way to know for sure that he doesn't actually think that way... So WBD "cancelled" him (not sure what's hard to understand there).

But since the stance was against what the disgusting thing Jay said, why does it need to continue to effect Mark?

He’s charging some of y’all $11.99 a month.

I mean it's one of those things where if you defend him at any aspect ever for anything... you get this type of response no matter what it may be, and vice versa. I don't talk about him all that much on here because of that.

I actually do pay this, but mostly for all the radio shows. Alvarez does a bunch like the Bryan & Vinny Show, or the shows he does with Lance Storm and Filthy Tom Lawlor. So I usually listen to like 7 or so podcasts weekly at work. Seems like a decent deal to me.

Hey I can see how some people find value in that.

But when it stretches to defend a guy as credible when he’s 100% wrong (which happens often enough) … that’s what I can’t figure.

To me he has zero credibility as a journalist because he doesn’t follow the normal, basic processes of journalism — checking out and verifying info, making sure you actually know who your source is, having another source back up an account before publishing. Journalism isn’t ‘well someone told me this,’ it’s ‘someone told me this and I know who he/she is and how they know this and I even checked it out with another person who would have knowledge and they verified it as true.’ It’s also calling the ‘other side’ and giving them the opportunity to deny it or comment on it … even if you’re sure they won’t do so, you have to give them that opportunity. Dave does none of the above.

On the other hand, I respect him as a historian. I don’t like Cornett either, but if he tells me what was happening behind the scenes at a promotion where he was working at the time he was working there, I’ll give that credence.

You are one of them even if you don't pay whatever it costs to subscribe. Thanks for proving my point.

Yeah, I've got a lot of time to kill so having podcasts as background noise is a must when I'm playing video games or w.e. Vinny, Craig and Granny are great, Lance and Tom are awesome, and I find Les Thatcher to be a kind of less strident Cornette, old-school but not playing a gimmick and burying everything. Garretts podcast with John LaRocca can be interesting, but John is kind of how I imagine Chip being in real life if he was being truthful about running a promotion, bit of a grumpy sourpuss. Unfortunately miss listening to Jim Valley and Fumi Saito, I just can't listen to Jim after his voice went following his illness.

For like 30+ hours of content a month 11.99 is fair enough for me.

Things like Dave fucking up on the the Dragon Gate thing are deserved -- but in cases like this where he'd probably talked to Tony himself last week and WBD's stance was a firm no, is just a case of shitty timing, and people trying to dunk on him as if plans don't actually change all the time is just plain stupid and is what irks me more than anything.

It reminds me of all the "fake news" folks that popped up the last few years under Trump, and oddly enough if you kick around in the anything or rants sections here, you start to see a bit of overlap.

At the end of the day, it's wrestling, and I'm not looking for the same journalistic integrity in reporting as I would from serious news organizations.

Also half of what he says isn't even him reporting, it's opinion or partially informed conjecture that for some people is heard and interpreted as FACT for some odd reason which usually ties back to media literacy issues in the modern world.

I probably didn’t make my point clear: some of y’all are paying Dave $11.99 a month to have him live in your heads … so not only rent-free but they’re paying him to live there.

I’d say more but … plans changed (like they always seem to when Dave is wrong).

No you were very clear thus how I deduced that Dave is living in your head, rent free too.
