WON - Update on Whether Rock will be wrestling at WrestleMania 39

Dave Meltzer has reported that The Rock will NOT be wrestling Roman Reigns at this years WrestleMania but may still appear on the show in some capacity.

Dave notes that with the deadline to lock plans in approaching, Dwayne couldn’t guarantee he’d be available or be able to get himself into ring shape but hasn’t ruled out wrestling in the future.

Nothing to do with Daniel Bryan.
Not true. It was a repeat of the year before with Batista. Both Batista and Reigns were the rumoured winners and then psycho Bryan fans turned on them.

As I said, and you did not have a counter to this, Reigns was doing fine with the crowd as a face until then.

If Rock doesn’t show up at the Rumble, I’m going to be slightly pissed. Not because I have tickets in the front row to the Raw after the Rumble, but because…

Yeah, it’s very much because of that.

Not true. Roman spent the latter part of the 2014 injured. He wasn't as over as the WWE suspected.

If he was really over, then there wouldn't of been an issue, regardless of Daniel Bryan fans. If Cody Rhodes eliminates Sami Zayn to win the Rumble, he'll be fine.

I would love to see a Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar tag-team formed. Put 'em against the usos and have them do some crazy shit involving a 4-wheeler and a tractor.

I think this was the last chance to do Rock Roman for the title. They've effectively put it off for a year and there's no way they'll be able to carry the momentum of this Roman run for another year. It was practically on life support before Sami appeared.

I wouldn't be against them doing it at WM40 but it doesn't need to be for the title.
They didn’t really turn on Reigns, they moreso turned against anyone who won that wasn’t Daniel Bryan.

Reigns was organically over until that Rumble
I think it's when he won that Slammy award just before the Rumble I noticed a shift begin. There was no way anyone would have realistically voted for him and that point people sussed who the machine were behind to be the replacement for John Cena.

Bobby Lashley:

“What would it mean to the company? The Rock is a huge star. So, of course, if he comes back, it’s going to bring a lot of notoriety to us, and being in Hollywood this year, I think there would be a good opportunity that he may be back.”

“I don’t know. I have been asked several times if The Rock is coming back. We don’t know anything. I don’t even know what I’m doing next week. I can’t really tell you what The Rock is doing, but of course, everybody would love to see The Rock. He’s a huge star. So if he comes back, it’ll be good for all of us.”

I posted almost 2 years ago about this and i stand by my opinion, It doesnt matter. Roman will only loose a title due to the Bloodline turning on him and spinning him face. Doesnt matter his opponent, its not about who he will put over its about him getting turned.

I was the one that said that they’ve talked to Austin. I hate it when SRS steals my scoops from this forum site w/o crediting me…

Report: WWE Has Pitched Steve Austin vs. Roman Reigns

My original post:

My understanding is that Rock is being saved as a surprise for ‘Mania - with him somehow costing Roman the win on night one, setting up a Rock-Roman match for night two. For which title, I don’t know. I know that Cody would probably prefer the WWE title given the context he referenced regarding his reasoning for a WWE return last year.

It’s also my understanding that if Rock cancels his commitment to the event - they do have a back-up plan - with that being to have Stone Cold Steve Austin do the same plan. Rock is their first choice, but SCSA is being kept off RAW next week to avoid speculation on him possibly returning for another match this year after having had one last year if he is needed. I’m unsure if they will still factor in SCSA in ‘Mania plans if Rock is still committed to WM.
At least credit me SRS, shit.
Imagine Austin and rock in the rumble squaring off

American's are stuck with something worse in Peacock.

Only benefit to being British at the minute is the WWE Network 😂.

I have a feeling they will square off, then the buzzer hits and Vince comes out.

Sadly.

Vince is far too old now to do stuff like that.

I don’t think Vince can get physical at this age. But he will probably want to redo last years stunner.
So people complaining about Reigns wrestling a part time schedule, what would be the purpose of The Rock beating Roman, he wouldn’t come back for a full-time schedule
