Dave Meltzer has reported that The Rock will NOT be wrestling Roman Reigns at this years WrestleMania but may still appear on the show in some capacity.

Dave notes that with the deadline to lock plans in approaching, Dwayne couldn’t guarantee he’d be available or be able to get himself into ring shape but hasn’t ruled out wrestling in the future.

Having people speculate adds to the drama of who will come out next after the buzzer, but I also get not trying to let people down who expect Rock.

This could be interesting, BUT I would think from a story perspective Night 1 Roman goes over the other family dynasty wrestling star in Cody. Night 2 he then brags he's the greatest ever in his family, but Rock tries to show him otherwise. Roman ends up showing he is the head of the table of that family too.

Of course, this doesn't fix the problem of the two titles. It also doesn't do any good for Cody to job either. From what I could see happening in that scenario of Cody night 1 and Rock night 2 is Roman turning face after getting his victory over Rock saving face from a loss to Rhodes family.

Roman and Cody feud after? Not sure.

My understanding is that Rock is being saved as a surprise for ‘Mania - with him somehow costing Roman the win on night one, setting up a Rock-Roman match for night two. For which title, I don’t know. I know that Cody would probably prefer the WWE title given the context he referenced regarding his reasoning for a WWE return last year.

It’s also my understanding that if Rock cancels his commitment to the event - they do have a back-up plan - with that being to have Stone Cold Steve Austin do the same plan. Rock is their first choice, but SCSA is being kept off RAW next week to avoid speculation on him possibly returning for another match this year after having had one last year if he is needed. I’m unsure if they will still factor in SCSA in ‘Mania plans if Rock is still committed to WM.

What better way to save an appearance fee and set up a feud between him and Roman than for him to disrespect the tribal chief by not showing up to the celebration and revealing Cody’s return ahead of time also allows for a more in the moment visceral crowd reaction when Rock’s theme music hits at the Rumble

And my sources who are very close to Nick Khan tell me that Steve Austin will win the Royal Rumble this year and at Mania Austin will have a match against Reigns!
And that's is the reason why Austin won't be on RAW XXX this year!

I may have mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again:

WM39 will see Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns main event for the Undisputed Championship.

The Rock interferes, helps Cody fight off The Bloodline, and helps Cody WIN, ending Roman's 2+ year reigns as world champion.

This sets up a one year build for The Rock vs Roman Reigns as the WM40 Main Event. No title on the line.

He didn't leave cause his ego got brusied

He left cause Vince had him drsss up as star dust. He wanted to reinvent him self and wwe then wouldn't allow him the chance.

He did that and made lots of money doing so.

Yeah I could see then pulling out all the stops to give Roman the Brunno reign and even longer.

As much I had hotshooting titles, and don't like short Reigns, these days a good title run should be anywhere between 6-15 months tops, the fans don't have the attention span for a Hogan, Flair, Brunno, or Backlund title reign that 2 years or more, there too much content and TV shows, back then the talent was a once a month appearance at most in some areas then they would travel other territories from burning out their home base.

I mean what you have said about Cody is the exact thing that happened to Reigns in 2015. He sucked and the fans turned on him.

The fans are going to turn on any top babyface, but Cody has enough skill to keep it at least 50-50.

They didn’t really turn on Reigns, they moreso turned against anyone who won that wasn’t Daniel Bryan.

Reigns was organically over until that Rumble
