Ring of Honor shocked the world this afternoon by announcing they are shutting down at the end of the year until April and have released their ENTIRE roster.

I for one believe they will sell. With that, we know how WWE likes to buy up the libraries of struggling or defunct companies. However, a quite a few AEW talent have roots in ROH and I am sure "kid in a toy store" Tony Khan would love to buy something that Vince would covet.

Do you believe 1 or both companies will try to acquire ROH?

What would both companies do if they purchased it and who would do the most or best with it?

Your thoughts...

Well with what people have already said including you WWE will only really gain their library but have gone on record to not rely on signing just anybody on the Indies, Their rival company would still benefit from making use of those guys/gals just for the sake of it.

It's fair game either way really because there isn't anyone currently in ROH that I am interested in seeing in WWE atm.

I think there will be a bit of a competition. I would love to see Rok-C and Miranda Alize in WWE or AEW as top female stars. Brody King and Malakai Black are tag champs in PWG, so maybe he will join the House of Black.

Seems to me WWE are only really employing guys that are ideally 6'2, under 30, over 225pounds and with a sports background. Are there any males from ROH like that? Probably a couple of females that would be picked up by WWE.

AEW will go after several wrestlers.

Jay Lethal, Mandy Leon, Angelina Love, Dragon Lee, Quinn McKay, Rok- C, Miranda Alize are talents I can see wwe being interested in for various reasons

But what WWE would really want is the library. That’s what makes Vince money here really.

Now what they could do if it was cheap was keep it and re-do some deals and run it parallel to nxt at the cwc.

Vince will just want the library but Tony is gonna need to hop on that if they want an aew streaming service..and it makes si ce with then having Bryan and Punk
Yeah because WWE employs nobody with a history in Ring of Honor.

Right now AEW has a very limited amount of their own content and a solid amount of it is already available for free on YouTube as half their "TV" is primarily released on the platform. People aren't likely going to be quick to want to pay for shows that they have been getting for free. The other issue is that starting a streaming service with the content from another company vastly out weighing your own in house content presents is that it looks as though you are the company that is on someone else's streaming service. Also the demand for ROHs library probably isn't as high as you may think. It isn't like HonorClub was killing it in terms of subscribers.

That's without mentioning that starting a streaming service isn't a cheap or easy process to begin with. It would also probably damage their PPV business as well. What they should really want is to license their content to an established service like HBO max for a substantial fee per year especially until they have a decent amount of content of their own to start their own service with.

Assuming ROH is done and never returns again (Very sad mind you) I'd say WWE would probably only be interested in Dalton Castle and Jay Lethal.

Tony will probably sign like 5-10 guys from there though.

They have had interest in Dalton Castle before but passed on him a few months back when out of contract.

They will absolutely try for rush and bandito but fully expect them in AEW. There are a few I wouldn't mind NXT picking up but not sure they will.

Could see them making plays for session moth and maybe Hendry and the Haskins for NXT UK. Doubt they are interested. Martina if any of them as she was close before.

TNA will likely benefit the most from the roster.

If you go through the current roster, there is no one there worth a damn. They’re the most indy looking wrestlers possible, there’s a reason why they’re in ROH. They don’t have the appeal or marketability to transfer over to WWE. Only the Briscoes and Lethal have some level of talent where they might do well, but WWE shouldn’t even bother with the rest not should AEW.

WWE quite rightly identified that the only thing AEW can compete with them is signing talent. Hence the new direction of signing athletes under the age of 30.

If we're going to see Rush, Lethal, Bandido, Danhausen etc anywhere permanently it will be in AEW.

It's a shame as its quite mad to think Jay Lethal is only 36.
