Because there was a fire in the arena Smackdown was supposed to be in.

Well, I'd prefer they do this. Obviously I'm not happy about the chaos the wildfires are causing, but I would rather see SmackDown taped after Raw. I don't care for having to wait an extra night.
I wouldn't like it as a permanent thing. The crowd for Smackdown will probably suck as it will burn them out, being there for probably about 5 hours (unless there was a different crowd for the SD taping, in which case disregard my post). Especially if they had to sit through that Raw.

Also I don't think I'd even wish it upon my greatest enemies to make them sit through a 3 hour Raw, then a lazy Smackdown taping.

Crowd for SmackDown's fake anyway so I don't see how it matters.

You're right about how long they'd be there, that sucks, but I'd just prefer getting the week's spoilers as early as possible. Probably not practical but I have no patience.

In terms of crowd response, it probably wouldn't change if they moved to Monday tapings. The crowd overall is dead for Smackdown regardless of the day. However, WWE couldn't charge for tickets for two tapings a week and that's the main benefit for Raw on Mondays and Smackdown on Tuesdays.

Monday Night Raw can be really tough to sit through at the arena. All the commercial breaks and stupid segments can be brutal. I wouldn't want to sit through a SD and Superstars before or after Raw. It would just be too much.

A few years ago I was at a double SD taping and that was a lot of fun but at the time SD had big stars that were wrestling and I saw some really good matches.
