Love him or hate him Jericho who has pull when he was in the WWE the last couple years actually used that pull to try to advance some of the younger guys. He rarely if ever squashed someone especially if they were the future. Why cant guys like Taker, HHH, Cena and Orton use that pull the same way. I know it means more when someone like HHH finally loses but that RARELY happens. HHH built up Sheamus great but for some reason he came back and buried him 2 weeks straight. 1st by ignoring Sheamus completely and starting a feud with Taker and next just destroying him. Dibiase got more offense when he was buried by HHH. Taker im sure has pull i remember him losing to Koslov clean years ago thats all i remember really. He probably isnt as worse as HHH cuz he just doesnt bury ppl completely and he isnt around as often.

Cena and Orton 2 guys on the top of wwe right now. Punk should have won at Mania. Orton took out all of Nexus , had an injured leg and he still won and he barely did anything the whole match. he was selling cuz Punk was on offense most of it anyway. What does the win do for Orton. The feud looks like its continuing but wouldnt having Punk win cuz of the leg be better Since Randy could say when he is healthy he is gonna punt him and finish him. And Cena i think he has actually tried I THink cuz we've seen him with Daniel Bryan, Evan Bourne and Cryme Tyme but he is the face of the wwe im sure if he asked for something or wanted something he could get it. He came out bouncing and smiling as he was suppose to "confront" the rock. Why would he be bouncing and smiling after what Rock did to him. He lost the mainevent for the wwe title why is he smiling. It baffles me that these guys with pull or whatever power they have just dont help elevate more ppl continually. And I hate Big SHow cuz he over the past year is one of the worst. Destroying tag teams by himself and the SES which was a heat magnet at the time.

Thats why i alwats liked Jericho he had the whole package but what was great about him is he could lose cut an awesome promo and be fighting for the world title the next day. Didnt he lose to Heath Slater did that ruin him at all no. I think some ppl just dont like to lose to anyone not a huge star.

Jericho doesn't mind losing to put people "over". Remember the small battle he had with Evan Bourne where Bourne beat him at F4W? Jericho came out the monday right after and tossed him around the ring.

Speaking of which.... think I'm gonna watch that match right now!

Jericho is probably the only one who understands losing isn't a big deal. Jericho spent years putting guys over in WWE. But its so easy for him to get himself back over that he can job to Heath Slater and then still be considered a major star. HBK didn't mind jobs either (later in his career) and shit Ric Flair was basically a jobber before his career threatening storyline.
Most of the other guys want to job only when the other guy is going to be big or is already big.

Jericho can't put anybody over because he's jobbed out so much it means nothing. When HHH or Taker lose it is HUGE. That's why it rarely happens and only happens when they are serious about putting somebody over. Well, at least it used to be that way. I thought they planned to do it with Seamus but they certainly dropped that ball.

Jericho isn't the star that HHH or Taker is. Yeah, beating Jericho would help a young guy. Beating Taker or Trips would make a young guy a STAR. HHH did more for Sheamus than anyone else he feuded with before or since. It's the way things are. People throw around the word buried way too much. Losing to Trips isn't getting buried, he's beaten everyone. Losing to Chris Masters on Superstars is buried.

Jericho is definitely great for putting over the younger guys. Didn't Cena beat Jericho early on to really cement that he was an up and comer.
But as far as the other guys not doing their part? HHH may be a little guilty of this, he does have the stroke. Undertaker possibly, now that he's nearing the end of his career. There will always be some politics in the back regardless of who the stars are, but for the most part they do as their told by management and creative. I rarely, if ever, talk about who won or lost a match. That is never a factor when it comes to a great match, the story is what is important and the results are mostly just consequential. Terry Funk put over an entire company by winning their title at their first PPV.
Guys make each other by getting in the ring and putting on good matches or getting on the mic and showing what they can do. In other words allowing each other to showcase their skills whatever they may be. Other than say...winning a worlds title, winning and losing doesn't really matter.
Dolph Ziggler and Danial Bryan had a series of great matches in 2010. Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you who won any of them, nor do I care. But I can say that I really enjoyed them.
It's my understanding that HHH and Sheamus are good friends and I find it hard to believe that he would 'bury' his friend unless it was deemed necessary by someone in the office.
Yeah, over the years some guys have been real dicks about it and Vince has catered to their ego...if they were making him money. eg. Ultimate Warrior. Goldberg. But the guys who really care about the business, Taker and Hunter among them, don't really do that kind of thing.
If you really need to blame anyone for talent getting buried. Look to none other than Vincent K. McMahon who puts his seal of approval on pretty much everything, as is my understanding.

OK, no shit.

Now the question still remains, why doesn't Hunter or 'Taker do this kind of thing? Their spots and credibility will always be locked and cemented. Not like losing to Jack Swagger or Dolph Ziggler will put them on some basement level. It's exactly what Chris said. And it's time for the young guys to have these opportunities instead of having the same core of guys always in the main scenes.

I don't like Cena and Orton, but they are the top guys and will be around for years to come. Why would you expect them to lose in big spots? If you are going to job them out at the PPV's what is the point in having them on the roster? They are the face guys, who need to be pushed to stay relevant. Jericho and punk are great personalities who keep their heat no matter what, they don't need to win, but they also aren't the superhero type to be #1. They are essentially great character actors whereas Cena and Orton are the big movie stars. Can Stallone and Arnold actually act? of course not, but they can make you a shitload of money when you put them in a role that suits them.

imho, cena and orton dont have the cache built up yet to put someone over the way hhh or taker could. miz has more or less beaten cena at this point, beat him up for a month, won at WM (well it was a draw until restart, but whatever, he won). cena even verbally tipped his hat to miz...does anyone now feel the miz has ascended to a new level? or was he joke then, and a joke now (thats if you never liked him)? plus they are still in their primes, not like they need to pass the torch the way austin did, andre did, or taker and hhh will someday (soon).

hhh put sheamus over big time, and the overall fanbase didnt react too strongly - he has gotten pushed near constantly, you would think he'd be on the orton/cena level with all the pushing, but its not working. now he is anout to get leapfrogged by sin cara. taker wrestles 2 matches a year, he will always work with top stars, so unless one ofthe youngins steps it up, they get no rub. tbh im tired of his 10 month vacations to come back and do the same finisher fest match.

really though, how the are any of us supposed to know why they dont? vince has final say, blame him. writers dont want to, blame them. maybe they are fucking assholes, is that what you want to hear?

just want to add in that some characters need to win. 80's hogan would not have been hogan if he was 'putting everyone over' - he needed to be the guy that always pulled through in the end. randy savage could put anyone over because like jericho, he had a character that could stay hot even if he lost feuds (being a heel helps here)

Cena has helped Miz along some, but to really have helped him it would have taken a clean win somewhere along the way. Miz hasn't had a legit clean win over anyone worth a damn unless you count someone like JoMO

Jericho said, and I may even be quoting him here, the better his opponent looks, the better he looks. It's not entirely unselfish but he did seem to start out with that mentality only to have it reinforced by most of his experiences in promotions before the WWE.

I don't think Cena/Taker/HHH has to "lose" to put someone over because they are so universally popular..Jericho can be considered to be a notch down...and I also feel like he isn't the huge intimidating force that HHH/Orton/Cena/Taker are...and it also fits his character. His character gains heat by being embarrassed by a "rookie" and him retaliating and beating the hell out of them at a later time.

didnt he beat orton clean, after a match was restarted at some ppv?

in any event, lack of clean wins is the writers, or hell, maybe miz and his opponent plan out the match and decide the non clean wins are best. my point is people want to immediatley say "this guy wont put others over" with no evidence that its the wreslter pulling strings

ffs cena put was pinned clean by gabriel a few times, pinned by carlito a few times...where did that rub get them? unless the booking follows up on it, it doesnt matter.

thing is too that the miz is over, the crowd responds to him, its really just certain people that insist that they cant (or wont) take him seriously.

Because by doing what Jericho does, it takes away the ability to truly put anyone over. When HHH lost to Sheamus or Batista or Cena it was big because he doesn't lose a lot, but when Bourne and Morrison beat Jericho, no one cared much, b/c everyone beats Jericho, and it's no big deal/ Jericho doesn't put over, he jobs. Just like Kane.

And Orton losing to Punk would do nothing but make Orton look weak as Punk has failed to beat anyone since Jeff Hardy IIRC. Orton should have won and did so.
